My wife and kids got me a full-sized drill press for Christmas (long story, don’t ask) and at 350 lbs, moving it around was a bitch. What is the heaviest thing in your house? Lets ignore cars and the like, but if you own a Bobcat or a backhoe that are in your garage, that might count. Probably some farmer with a big ol’ tractor will have the heaviest item, then. ---

The heaviest, newest thing in my house is a new Onkyo A/V receiver I got for xmas. The damn thing is 61 lbs. ---

Our old school rear projection big screen TV is probably it. It takes four quite motivated grown men to move it any appreciable distance. This is actually an issue right now as I want to get rid of it badly, but I don’t want to move it down the stairs ever again. ---

Well, if we count car parts that aren’t actually _in_ a car, I have a 1936 Buick straight-8 engine, complete with attached transmission and shifter. (I don’t have a car to put it in, I just have a couple homeless engines around because I think they’re cool.) If I can’t use that, I’d have to agree with **twickster** and say my refrigerator. It and the engines in the garage are the only things around here that I can’t pick up. ---

Old-fashioned roll top desk made of solid oak, which I’m guessing weighs about 350lbs. It can be disassembled into four parts (top, two bottom units w/ drawers, back panel), but the top portion still weighs somewhere around 200lbs. It’s the main reason I ended up having to pay for movers when we bought our house last spring - for some odd reason, all the large burly friends that had helped me move the last couple of times were all mysteriously “busy” the day of the move. :dubious: ---

The cast iron clawfoot bathtub. New ones of similar size seem to run about 350 lbs, empty. I haven’t weighed the actual tub. ---

Well, I have a pretty heavy TV, but the piano probably weighs more. It’s a baby grand. Also, I have very heavy dining room furniture, and a huge fridge. ---

An old safe that’s about the size of a washing machine. My buddy wanted it out of his Dad’s old business property so he could rent the place, and it was a healthy load on the trailer, hauling it back here. Guesstimate is around a half-ton. ---

Probably either my bed, or my great-grandmother’s chifforobe. It’s man-tall (probably over 6 feet), probably about 4 feet wide, and almost 3 feet deep, made of solid wood. Empty, with all the drawers removed, it takes 3 grown men to move it. I’d hate to think about trying to move it full!
