I bred Argenté rabbits for a 4H-project one year. I named my first female Goldie, and the one I kept from her litters was named Sølvi (Norwegian for Silvia, but the first four letters are the Norwegian for Silver). ---

We had a rescue cat many years ago. One of it’s rear legs’ joints were fused, so it had an odd way of walking with one leg stuck straight out. We named her “Peggy”. ---

i did train a neighbors cat to come to “fleabag” by accident … neighbor wasnt happy about it but that became her name … ---

Cats wandering my yard now include Teddy Bear Roosevelt, Sally, Veronica, Rascal, Satan, Devil, and Demon Spawn. Quite a few are feral and/or drop offs. Growing up, our cows included April, Maye, and June. My hunting beagle when I 1st started was Brownie. ---

When I was little, my parents had a Doberman. They named him Spreken Sie Deutch, but called him “Sprikey”. ---

Long long ago, I named my first cat Pookie. Not sure why (not after _The Sterile Cuckoo_ – I hate Liza Minelli). I was embarrassed by the name from the start, and the cat lived with my family for almost 20 years. ---

My mother wouldn’t let me name any of my pets when I was growing up, precisely because she did not want to end up with lame names like Fluffy or Spot. She’d entertain a few suggestions from me, then say, “No…I think this kitten’s name is Samantha.” (A few weeks later I had to go door-to-door begging neighbors to adopt her - the kitten not my mother - but that’s another story.) At age 60 I still have some anger issues over that. Anyway, as result I was determined to let my kid name his pets, no matter how unimaginative the names he picked might be. We ended up with a cat named Hunter (named after a friend, not because she hunted anything), another cat named Gecko, a dog named Ramses, and a dog name Pyra (short for pyramid). All in all, not too bad for a little kid - but I would have lived with whatever names he chose. . ---

I had this cat once. He was a fine cat. He had these weird oversized thighs. I mean muscled up like a wrestler. Never could figure that out. He wandered on to the place and hung around when we grilled out. His tail was gone. Not by anything natural. Lost it in a freak accident we assumed. I named him ‘Bob’, I loved that cat. ---

Back before the big salmonella scare, we had a series of pet turtles. The first one was named Archibald (I assume by one of my older siblings) - the replacements were numbered. I think we got to Archibald VII before you could no longer purchase them. Obviously, we were not adept at turtle maintenance. ---
