After giving this considerable thought over the past 10 years, I have concluded that the nastiest food on this planet (barring bizarre concoctions), is irrefutably: **Watered Down Ketchup** Imagining drinking a big glass of it on a hot summer’s day, and tell me I’m not right. ---

How about mayonnaise in which the oil has gone rancid? I’d drink watered-down ketchup over that anyday! ---

Nato is pretty nasty. It’s rotting beans, which, according to my SIL don’t taste good, smell good, or have a pleasant texture - and she LIKES it. I have no explanation other than she also seems to dig chicken ovaries, so I suppose there’s no accounting for taste. ---

Without the slightest shadow of a doubt, **ANDOUILLETTE SAUSAGE**. It’s the intestines of a pig (I think) stuffed into a skin which is itself made out of the intestine of a pig. I believe it’s the custom in France not to wash the intestines before use; at least that’s what seemed to be the case with the one I encountered in Bordeaux a few years ago. It tasted like (excuse me) shit. Not that I have ever eaten shit. Except probably on that occasion. ---

Herring in sour cream sauce. :eek: I see it in the kosher isle of my grocery store and I always wonder how starved I’d have to be to actually be able to make myself choke it down. Anchovies are just as loathsome. Finally, those crusted balls of shrink wrapped congealed animal fat and grease in the meat section (spetzle? scrapple?). Bleh! ---

I don’t know what you mean, but spaetzle are delicious pillowy nuggets of noodly goodness, and I would hate to see their name inadvertently sullied. Mine is: fish sauce.
