A Vietnamese family, including an infant, being butchered by American GI’s in _Platoon_. That was when I hit the “eject” button. The rape scene in _Leaving Las Vegas_ was pretty horrific because it was so brutal and realistic. And, of course, the episode of Survivor 2 where the contestants had to eat brains, big old crunchy bugs and 1 1/2 foot worms. Oh.My.Gawd. ---

Sloth in _Seven_ is the reason for my strict “Podkayne does not watch serial killer movies any more!” rule. I didn’t bat an eyelash at _Silence of the Lambs_, but . . . _shiver_ I’m not risking _those_ wide-awake-at-three-a.m. thoughts again. ---

While I agree that it was horrid and unnecessary to include in the movie, it doesn’t rock me to my sould or anything, considering that they were waiting for Derek to come outside so they could kill him. It was him or them, basically. Storyline-wise, I can accept him killing them. I would’ve. ---

A scene in **Kingpin** where Woody Harrelson teaches Randy Quaid how to floss, and Quaid’s character eats the stuff that gets left on the floss! :eek: I nearly tossed my cookies right there in the theatre. ---

I’m really dating myself here, but there’s that scene in \*\* Catch-22\*\* where the plane comes in low on a guy standing on a pier (or perhaps a barge) and cuts him in two just about the beltline. I found it horribly disturbing. ---

What is really gross? How Sam Raimi treats his brother Ted. Ted gets run over by a truck with his head sticking out of a manhole cover in _Darkman_. Then Sam makes him act scared in _Army of Darkness_. Then Ted becomes the butt of all jokes and the epitome of incompetence as Joxer “the Mighty” in _Xena, Warrior Princess_. ---

Recent films: When Jennifer Lopez rips the psycho’s nipple rings off in _The Cell_. One scene that really disturbed me was near the end of _Casino_ where Joe Pesci watches his brother beaten to death with a baseball bat and dumped into an open grave, then suffers a similar fate. That almost made me nauseous. And, of course, who can forget _Deliverance_? ---

I think it’s the slight delay bewteen impact and thud that gets to me. I know **Grok** mentioned, **The Cook, the Thief, His Wife, and Her Lover**. I love that flick. There are some disturbing scenes in it, but they aren’t nearly as graphic as almost anything in most of today’s teen/slasher type movies. I think it’s the unrepentant brutality behind the violence that really the kicker there. Especially when they torute “Pup” to find out the location of the lover’s hideout. They don’t show a lot, but based on previous scenes, the imagination fills in what isn’t shown. ---
