Actually, upon even closer inspection, I think this _is_ an SUV. On pickups, with a very few exceptions, the bed is a separate piece from the cab. But on this vehicle there’s no gap between the bed and cab; it’s all integrated. The old K5 Blazer had a removable top, as it was meant to be a competitor to the Jeep Wrangler. I believe that’s what appears to be a bed topper. So I believe this is a K5 Blazer, although this one appears to be missing its Blazer badge. ---

Yes, [Blazers](https://www.rkmotors.com/vehicles/5210/1989-chevrolet-k5-blazer), and [Suburbans](https://www.grautogallery.com/vehicles/10639/1989-chevrolet-suburban-scottsdale), and [C/K Series](https://www.uniqueclassiccars.com/vehicles/2186/1988-chevrolet-k1500-silverado-reg-cab-4x4) pickups from that era all had that badge. Or a 2500 badge if it had the higher payload rating. “1500” isn’t a specific model, it just denotes the payload rating. ---

I actually stumbled across an older, perfectly restored Datsun 240Z in a deep midnight blue on my way back home this afternoon. It’s always a trip seeing something like that out in the wild instead of trapped in a showroom. It just had so much more character than the sea of identical modern crossovers and tech-heavy daily drivers sitting in traffic next to it. Hearing that classic straight-six engine growl when the light turned green definitely made my boring commute a whole lot better. ---
