What's the name for a 2mm square hole in a screw head?

That’s within a couple thous of my measurement of the tip of my #1 robbie driver, so yeah.

Lowes does seem to have them.

Home Depot shows them in both Husky and, if you’re wanting to splurge, Klein.

Yes, I was careful to check the US sites and not Canadian.

Since the OP’s question has been answered I’ll chime in and recommend McFeelys (www.mcfeelys.com) as my favorite source for all things square-drive. I do some woodworking and love Robertson screws, they work so much better than Phillips; never cam out and the screw sticks to the bit so you can start a screw one-handed at any angle without it falling off the driver.

McFeelys has a wide variety of bits and fasteners including stuff like R2 head #6 screws (so you don’t have to swap bits when you switch between #6 and #8 screws), undersized bits for use with heavily-plated exterior screws, Promax screws with unthreaded & overall shank lengths sized specifically to fasten common sizes of wood together, etc.

My wife cannot understand how I can happily sit there flipping through a catalog of screws

I’ve bought from them in the past too. Great catalogue as you say.

Reported.
