I’m guessing the Next Big Thing will be one of those “Will somebody think of the children?” type hysterics. Right now Righties are frothing at the mouth about the idea that Liberals are going to mass-murder old people…since everybody knows that Al Gore’s jet is powered by the distilled blood of hardworking senior citezens under the guise of ‘green energy’. I think the next outrage will involve _rolls dice_ Teenagers _rolls dice_ Abortions _rolls dice_ Parties Teenage Abortion Parties! Laws that condone teens to discreetly get together and have abortion parties unbeknownst to their parents or God. No doubt implicitly condoned in page 523, Column A, Paragraph 3, subparagraph 5, sentence six, word one (“The”)of the Health bill. Conservatives love to attack liberals for their sense of family values. Either their not involved enough (letting them have birth control, advocating sex ed in schools, etc) or too involved (helicopter parents, sensititivity training, etc). Liberal parents can’t win- they’re either too much of this or not enough of that. Rather ironic how much they try to tout ‘personal liberty’ but suddenly when it involves sexuality (gay marraige, abortion) they pull a 180 :rolleyes: ---

I’m reading about a minor provision in the ostensible bill that would pay for nurse-practitioners to visit the homes of mom’s to offer advice on nutrition, to tend to minor health issues, that sort of thing. So, of course, its invasive agents of the nanny-state, indoctrinating new parents and their children, brain-washing them to accept the socialist premises. I swear, I’m not making this up. Here’s an idea, let’s see these people dump their Medicare and Social Security for starters. After all, it’s Big Government interference and threatens their freedom. Then we can disband all federal law enforcement agencies, because they uhhhh INVESTIGATE PEOPLE and sometimes ARREST them. After that we can dissolve the FDA, because uhhhhh their interfering with my basic right to injest various unidentified or mislabeled poisons. Hell, let’s just dissolve all ofit. Note: I know it’s hyperbole and exaggeration, but why not. Let’s go all the way. ---

From their perspective, the government stole that money from them in the first place: they’ve been forced to pay in for all these years, and are now finally in a position to get _ **back** _ what shouldn’t have been swiped to _ **begin** _ with. To them, it’s a non sequitur to say they could prove some point by letting the government keep that money; they want to prove the opposite point. It’s like telling a crime victim that we’ve found the mugger who (a) robbed you at gunpoint but (b) is now willing to return your wallet. ---
