# What's the opposite of "misogynist"?

Misanthrope seems to mean hater of “mankind”- so is there another word for “man-hater”?

[These folks](http://www.theatlantic.com/unbound/fugitives/loveswomen.htm) like _philogynist_ as an opposite. They consider _misandrist_ more of a counterpart to misogynist than an antonym.

Thanks, everyone. That has really been bugging me for some reason. And thanks for correcting the ‘opposite’ thing- I wasn’t thinking. I know some women who seem to be man-haters and now I’ll know what to call them (I of course only rarely feel like all men are pigs 😉
