What's The Purpose Behind Shooting Glasses?

You can have perscription glasses made with the appropriate tint, but my solution is contact lenses + sunglasses.

I’m not entirely sure if I can get contacts made, because I have an astigmatism in one eye and I’m slightly crosseyed, requiring me to wear glasses with a prism effect.

Also there are other rare but dangerous malfunctions that could cause major eye/face injuries, especially since many serious target shooters are also reloaders. Case head failures, primer blowouts, and weak rounds can produce some impressive fragmentation and smoke/fire spitting depending on the gun in question.

IIRC, when the Beretta M9s were first issued to the US military, there were problems where the slide would split in half, causing the back end of it to fly towards the shooter’s face at an unsafe velocity. This was apparantly a combination of the slide steel not being up to spec, and the ammunition used by the soldiers not being down to spec. They fixed the problems, and also redesigned the hammer so that IF the slide breaks in that fashion again, the hammer deflects it away from the shooter.

Yep. They cover roughly the same range of rays.

I just got shooting glasses done in my prescription. I love my insurance plan!
