CHoward’s (the folks best known for their “violet” confections; they have a website) square peppermints that come in a foil-wrapped roll are excellent, made with peppermint oil and real sugar; they also do a wintergreen and an addictive lemon mint … ---

The worst is at Taco Bell, sometimes they give red-and-white candies that look like mints, but they actually have a strong cinnamon flavor! Who wants that? ---

And this is coming from someone who does not care for peppermint and loves fruity ones - but by jiminy, making the red / white striped ones be anything but peppermint is just WRONG. To the OP: you must never go to a restaurant near me. They have a bowl of “peppermint” candy (the striped lozenges) by the register - but the giveaway is that they have colors other than red. So if you ever see a bowl that has purple, orange and green, you know the red ones are not gonna be mint. ---
