# What's the secret to making a great kite?

You could do worse than [this website](http://www.kite-plans.com/) which offers plans for what seems to be hundreds of different kites.

I have had [Kiteworks](http://www.amazon.com/Kiteworks-Explorations-Kite-Building-Flying/dp/0806967137/ref=sr_1_1/002-4616379-6041660?ie=UTF8&s=books&qid=1181332076&sr=1-1) several years and found the plans quite easy to follow. My first kite project was a classic 3-stick Barn Door model which flys well in lightish breezes. Several people people in the local park asked where they could buy one and were amazed when I told them I made it myself!
