Sorry, **Babar714** , but I’m sticking with the version that **kniz** , **silent\_rob** , and I have alluded to. True, I don’t have a specific citation right now, but all three of our versions indicate the same thing. In addition, it appears to be somewhat regional and is usually described the way that **silent\_rob** did it. In fact, yours is the first reference I have ever heard to any _other_ etymology. ---

_Perineum_ is the proper name, _taint_ is the common name. And I’ll back those who say its called that because i **t ain’t** your ass and i **t ain’t** your nuts (IIRC, _Neither Ass nor Balls_ was one of the ripoffs of _Taint_ magazine in that Mr. Show sketch). I’ve also heard “choad” used occasionally and “derf” very rarely. Trivia- Max Packer, the guy from the Mr. Show sketch with the five inch taint, is actually Colin of _Colin’s Sleazy Friends_, a Los Angeles based public access show that usually has crappy rock bands and porn stars as guests. Not that I’ve ever sen it here in DC. ---

The SNL sketch, badly paraphrased in part was: Patient: What happened? Doctor: You were in a car accident. I have some bad news for you. . .we had to remove your taint. Patient: My what? Doctor: Your taint. It taint your hoo, and it taint your haw. Patient: You mean my fleshy fun bridge? Doctor: Fleshy fun bridge? Why, I haven’t heard it called that since my second year of medical school. Then his wife leaves him for a man with a taint, he becomes a speaker for people without taints, etc. -Neil ---

Chin rest is definitely the best. I always spelled “chode” as “Choad.” Something about the “oa” spelling makes it look…somehow…science fictiony, like it is a vestigal organ from our intergalactic ancestry. Taints at lightning speed, warping through the upper atmospheres of countless shimmering worlds… But I am POSITIVE there is one more word for it. It is…it is… YES! I remembered. The first word i ever learned for it was “grundle.” I like them all. (the words, that is…not all grundles). ---
