# What's the strangest thing you've seen today?

I drove past an salvage yard and in addition to the old clunkers it was populated with a herd of live sheep. I have no idea why.
At least, I hope I have no idea. :eek:

Were they maybe there to mow the grass?
I know of at least one town here that has a herd of sheep regularly wander through some of the wide grassy areas to keep it under control. Cheaper than paying to mow it as I understand.

I guess that’s possible. But like most salvage yards, it just looked like a cluttered and dusty place. I don’t remember seeing any grass so maybe it was working.

That’s awesome! I’ve never seen that before!
Not today, but last week. I walked into the break room and saw a fairly attractive woman, maybe mid-30s, with what looked like (and turned out to be) fully functional legs, sitting at the table. She had all manner of things with her, from a coat to books to handout materials to lunch to whatever. Far more things than she could carry. The thing was, she was transporting these things around in a wheelchair. It was like she was some bizarro world bag lady.

Yesterday I was walking through Harlem and I passed to men dressed in seafoam green, velour Statue of Liberty outfits. Like head to toe fuzzy statues. But handing out flyers. Twas strange indeed.

I was walking along the canal when I saw a big brown flipper go up for a second. There was a manatee (or manatees) bumbling around in there. It’s been years since I saw any in the canal system down here.

I work in an industrial/warehousing area and was driving home last night (past midnight) and there was a cow wandering down the middle of the road.
It was fairly big and didn’t seem to grasp the concept that I, as a human in a car, had the right-of-way. 😛

I saw a [saw whet owl](http://www.nature.org/wherewework/northamerica/states/ohio/images/sawwhetforweb.jpg) grab a [Carolina Wren](http://images.google.com/imgres?imgurl=http://www.photographycorner.com/galleries/data/766/Carolina-Wren.jpg&imgrefurl=http://www.photographycorner.com/galleries/showphoto.php/photo/5255/size/big&h=1365&w=2048&sz=1870&hl=en&start=8&tbnid=mlhAHOrPtxyGlM:&tbnh=100&tbnw=150&prev=/images%3Fq%3Dcarolina%2Bwren%26gbv%3D2%26svnum%3D10%26hl%3Den%26rlz%3D1T4GGIK_enUS233US233) off my suet feeder in front of my office window this morning.
Not only is that weird, but the wren is about a third the mass of the owl, and is not on their normal diet… I really wish I had my camera. A couple coworkers got a shot of the owl after in a tulip tree…he slept there for the rest of the morning.

Some girl here in the office just broke up with her boyfriend or something and he showed up at the office all screaming and refusing to leave until upper management called the police. Then the power went out for a half hour or so.
Not exactly unheard of, but definately a change of pace.

It is strange. But they’re handing out flyers for Liberty Tax Service, I’m guessing. At least the ones here are. I’m not sure if they’re nation-wide or not.

Not very interesting, but still…
2 out of 4 card readers in the Papineau metro were taped up as “out of order” this morning, and a third seemed to only be accepting every third or fourth transit pass, causing a bit of a human traffic jam in the station lobby. My card was one that didn’t work (so I showed it to the attendant and she pushed the button to open the gate)
Then on the way home, my card didn’t work at the McGill stop, either, so I again showed it to the attendant and he opened the gate for me.
This is a new card from last week, because my first one stopped working too. A classmate has been having similar problems. I will ask for a replacement if it happens again tomorrow!

I was at work at the clinic earlier today and looked out the window to see a dove with a dangling wing walk by. We went out to catch him. I don’t know if he had flown into one of our windows or some idiot had dropped him off on the doorstep expecting him to wait there until we opened. The wound wasn’t fresh enough to look like it had just happened.
