The Explore option on Google Maps has given us, for “restaurants,” the Italian Embassy–you know, the actual Italian Embassy-- and for “coffee shops,” Exxon, and Sodexo/US Geological Survey, which presumably share a building. Since we live close to an airport, Google Maps also cheerfully recommends establishments which are located inside the airport, which we naturally can’t get to.

What about you guys?

I did a vanity search for my name on Google. It came up with my husband’s ex-wife.

I googled latex (this is a markup language geared to presenting mathematical text) and, evidently, I got paint ads.

Well, well. I just tried it again and all I got were the real thing. Have they finally pegged me as a mathematician? I am curious what happens if a random doper did it.

Dare you to go to the Embassy and say, “Yes, I’d like a table for two…”

First time I heard about Google Image search back (Could it have been before 2001?) I entered “breast” and it returned a picture of a piece of chicken.

I’ve had Google ads recommending a dating website where I could “Meet Bipolar Singles.”
