Inspired by **Eve’s** identical thread on [books](http://boards.straightdope.com/sdmb/showthread.php?t=249534), what’s the most bizzare DVD (or whacky VHS, laserdisc etc) you own. The one you show to friends you want to scratch their heads in bemusement.

I just picked up a copy of [Jesus Christ Vampire Hunter](http://imdb.com/title/tt0311361/).

IMDBs plotline

> [@](#):
>
> Kung-Fu Action / Comedy / Horror / Musical about the second coming.

fails to mention either the lesbians or Mexican Wrestlers

Does anyone else have any thing to rival this? I need more quality DVDs 😃

Hmm … well, I own a copy of [Freaked](http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0109838/), starring Randy Quaid, Alex Winter, and Mr. T as the bearded lady …

Well, **Rocky Horror Picture Show** is pretty mainstream, so I guess that’s not it.

**Phantom of the Paradise** is pretty odd.

Do MST3K movies count?

Probably Jonathan Miller’s 1966 BBC production of [Alice in Wonderland](http://imdb.com/title/tt0060089/), with Michael Redgrave, Peter Cook, John Gielgud, Peter Sellers, Wilfrid Brambell, Leo McKern, etc, etc.

I started a thread about it before I got it, and it turned out to be even weirder and spookier than I had hoped. Real nightmare shit.

Highly recommended.

[Chained for Life](http://imdb.com/title/tt0043397/), the story of the Hilton Sisters (the Siamese twins, not Nicki and Paris).

In an early-film collection, the soft-porn [Airy, Fairy Lillian Tries on Her New Corsets](http://imdb.com/title/tt0257379/) (1905).

The 1932 potboiler [13 Women](http://imdb.com/title/tt0023582/), the only film appearance of Peg Entwistle, who soon jumped off the Hollywoodland sign.

[The Wild, Wild World of Jayne Mansfield](http://imdb.com/title/tt0063809/), possibly the weirdest goddam movie ever made.

[Sisters of Satan](http://www.vampyres-online.com/alucarda.html)

This is the IMDB plot summary, but the linked page goes into more detail. This is one of the cheesiest movies I’ve ever seen, and of course, I thought I had to own it. It’s also a pretty well-sampled movie. If you’ve heard a couple of Thrill Kill Kult songs, you’ve most likely heard parts of this movie.

“A young girl’s arrival at a convent after the death of her parents marks the beginning of a series of events that unleash an evil presence on the girl and her mysterious new friend, an enigmatic figure known as Alucarda. Demonic possession, Satan worship, and vampirism follows.”

Well… the first, thought perhaps not the weirdest, is **Hexed** with Claudia Christian(Ivanova from Babylon 5) as a homicidal fashion model. Funny, funny movie.

Paraphrased dialogue from the movie: “She hit a mime, but he won’t talk about it.”

I’ve got quite a few blaxploitation movies that I bought a long time ago and just haven’t gotten around to watching.

The weirdest one I have that I have watched is _Anarchy TV_; which is just too cool to spoil. It features all of the Zappa kids (Except for Diva, I think?)

I have a copy of **The Forbidden Zone** , an extremely bizarre movie made in 1980 by Richard Elfman, starring the likes of Herve Villechaize as King Fausto of the Sixth Dimension, Susan Tyrrell as Queen Doris, Viva as the ex-queen, and Danny Elfman as Satan with the Mystic Knights of Oingo Boingo backing him up.
The film is black and white, supposedly filmed over 11 days for a ridiculously low budget. It kind of shows, but in a good way.

The soundtrack is fantastic, though most of the music is ripped off from older tunes (Cab Calloway’s _Minnie the Moocher_, for example) but that’s alright.
This is such a bizare movie.

Bim bam boom, bim bam boom!

Tod Browning’s 1932 film [_Freaks_](http://freaks.cinephiles.net/). I have it on VHS and am waiting for the promised DVD. Far more unsettling than any of the gorefests than pass themselves off as horror.

You’ve never experienced postmodern whiplash till you’ve experienced the scene where Jayne Mansfield interviews a Jayne Mansfield drag queen.

Oh, and **Murcielago** , now that you’ve seen the Hilton Sistes in _Freaks_, you must seek out their only other film, _Chained for Life_.

“One of us! One of Us!”

The weirdest movie I own besides Freaks is Frank Zappa’s 200 Motels.

I’ll see your **Phantom of the Paradise** , and raise you \*\*Tapeheads, Water, \*\* and **World Gone Wild.** That last one is a strange little movie about a post-Apocalyptic Earth where there is little water. Bruce Dern stars as a sort of hippy shaman. Very strange. I’m still waiting for \*\*Night of the Comet \*\* to make it to DVD.

Eve, dahlink, this one isn’t even in the running for weirdest movie. (Still a great film, though.) You oughta come out to Seattle sometime and poke around the stacks in [Scarecrow Video](http://www.scarecrow.com/).

My nomination: I have a copy of “The Order” segment from Cremaster 3.

_The Residents Live on the Outskirts_ (this is a compilation of segments from their live performances)
_The Jim Rose Circus Sideshow_
Several documentaries about nuclear-weapons tests
_Uncle Saddam_ (yet another documentary)

\*Blood Freak, \* perhaps the oddest antidrug monster movie ever made, in which our hero is contaminated by a mad mix of marijuana and experimental preservatives and turned into a rampaging vampire were-turkey. Still tryin’ to get a copy of this one on DVD; I understand Something Weird carries it.

_Fantastic Planet_, perhaps the greatest animated French/Czech sci-fi collaboration ever made. Apparently filmed specifically to watch while on drugs.

Quite a few compilations of trailers for nudie and exploitation films. The trailers are almost always better than the movies, anyway, and some of these movies, judging from the trailers, are weird beyond weird…

Too bad the Hiltons were the conjoined twins and not the “Pinheads.” It would have been great if today’s Paris and Nikki could have acquired the nicknames “Pip” and “Zip.”
