I just realized that I left my Silly Putty in my knapsack and brought it to work with me today (this isn’t an unusual occurrence, either. I don’t try to be odd - it just kinda happens :). So, any other normality-challenged folks out there? Anybody else clean out their pockets at the end of the day and wonder where all the weird stuff came from? ---

I have nothing on me now except a pair of sweatpants with the waist pulled all the way up under my armpits, so’s I don’t have to put on a shirt. I’m sick at home and not at work. Just thought I should mention this. ---

Oooh, that definitely counts. Extra points if you have them on inside out 🙂 Maybe I should clarify the OP - I’m wondering what odd things people have in their purses, knapsacks, pockets, on their computer tables, desks, etc. ---

Well, I’ve got a pocketwatch. I guess that’s weird because it’s considered old-fashioned and not many people carry them anymore. It’s not antique or anything, I have it because I like to know the time but I hate wearing a wristwatch. ---

I have a boxing match going on top of my computer. It’s the evil Kevin-Spacey-bug from _Bug’s Life_ vs. a 4-inch Allosaurus. The referee is a Timon from _Lion King_ wearing a teeny tiny bead lizard made by my daughter. I bought the dino, but the others came in McD kid’s meals. ---

I have two piles of polystyrene cat poo on my desk (and there’s a box with more right behind me) that my co-worker made and painted brown. I don’t know why. ---

I don’t have anything weird in my pants pockets, although in my coat pocket I have a recipe for won tons and 9 pairs of chopsticks. On top of my monitor however, I have 3 squeezies(?), one’s a dilbert doll, one is an airplane, and one is a computer monitor. I also have a walnut with a friend’s business address printed on it, a pink plastic case holding a pair of earplugs, and a purple rubber locomotive. In my cubicle I have 2 star wars figures left behind by my previous cube mate, plus a battery powered robot that can walk up walls, and a puppy made out of a piece of foam, wearing a parachute. The really weird thing is; I’m the most normal person in this department. ---

Me, I’m dressed pretty normally at the moment. Harley shirt, jeans with ribbbons, boot socks. If we can include my adorable hole of a pit dorm room I’ll find stuff for you though. ~three of the alien from Toy Story McDonald’s toys, the original ones whose eyes pop out ~8 cubic feet of stuffed animals ~three vials of extra fine craft glitter, two white, one purple ~the makings for a queen size quilt ~fairy wings ~a small bonsai tree ~46 different colors of glitter gel pens ~10 quarters stuck together in pairs by the tacky stuff you can put things on walls with. (they make great building blocks…much better than single quarters.) The wierdest stuff I ever took to work was pretty gentle, my tigger action figure, my juggling bean bags, bracelet makings… ---

I have one of the original Weeble-Wobbles in my purse. You know, the small ones that fit perfectly into your mouth as a child? I wonder how many kids choked on these things? BTW, he appears to be a cowboy. ---

In my coat pocket: A pacifier and a matchbox car On my desk or computer: A small stuffed “Count” from Sesame Street; a figurine showing a bare rump (wearing a hat) with the inscription “My Favorite Butthead” (a gift from an ex-boyfriend); a frog clock where the mouths clack open and closed in time to the second hand (very annoying, it’s turned off at the moment); a bag of mini-marshmallows labelled “Snowman Poop;” a picture frame with four openings but no pictures in it; AND two empty soda cans, three empty paper cups, an empty insulated mug, and a half-drunk jar of iced tea. That’s just what I can see. I’m afraid to dig down underneath the piles o’ paper. In my briefcase: A mini-deck of playing cards (the tourist kind, in a plastic case, from Mackinac Island), which I just found when I was in a meeting with a department chair re: my dissertation. ---

[hijackin my own thread - is that against the rules?] I just remembered one of the funniest weird things I’ve seen - it was a very nice Jaguar, complete with the leaping cat on the front hood, and someone had stuffed a little plastic lizard into the hood ornament’s jaws. Durn near peed my pants laughing at that. [/hijack] You guys all have cool stuff. Anyone know where I can get a little Curious George figure? ---

At the moment I’ve got on/around my desk: 1. A “Fimir” figurine from that Heroquest board game 2. A lego pterodactyl 3. A lego person I “tweaked” into a freaky robot guy 4. A mold of a bear claw (pewter maybe) on a chain that I forgot to wear today 5. A fuzzy marmot-like rodent thing that squeeks and such when you squeeze it 6. A dissasembled stapler from hell (I stapled my finger with it. Shaddup.) 7. A handheld electronic pinball game 8. And a little yellow pencil-topper thing that looks like some cross between a megatherium and demon dog. It has a chain around it’s neck that was originally for a ball-and-chain for a playmobile ghost (he glowed in the dark!). At the end of the chain is a Darwin Fish pin. I used to have more lego on my desk, but that got cleared off when I moved back in after semester break. Check out my webpage for more of my lego details. ---

I have Diglet and Dugtrio figurines on top of my computer monitor. Nobody gets it–I work with too many grown-ups, and two few of them have Poke-aged chillins, I guess–but they all find them vaguely disturbing. Mission accomplished. ---

BTW, my husband applied for a job at a firm where they make video games. Typical programmer’s office–big room, random tables, everyone with a computer. Anyhoo, my husband said in all his life he has NEVER seen so many litle figurines. They were on every imagineable surface. Robots, ass-kicking fighter guys, monsters, etc. As for Curious George, I just bought several on sale this year, but then gave them to officemates as prizes in a trivia contest.
