I’ve never seen _Sex in the City_. When S. J. Parker’s character was upset, did anyone ever ask “Why the long face?” sorry, I’ll be going now ---

“Curb Your Enthusiasm”. David doesn’t write scripts and it shows. Imagine a series produced by George Costanza. Arliss is bad, this is much, much worse. ---

That’s the only really bad show. Shows like The Wire, Arli$$, Oz, and Six Feet Under are ok I guess but I just can’t get into them. ---

Unlike most television–which is consistently horrible–HBO is wildly inconsistent. On the one hand, _Arli$$_ and _Sex and the City_ are simply moronic–often offensively so. On the other hand, _The Sopranos_ is probably the most beautifully written show television has ever known. ---

I’m with **Happy Lendervedder** on _Curb Your Enthusiasm_. I’ve had several friends who were pointlessly contrarian and antagonistic, they are a lot of fun in small doses. ---

The one episode of _Arli$$_ that really impressed me was the episode where the good-ol’-boy football coach was being investigated by a dogged NCAA official for giving money to players. Does the coach get away clean? No, which was a surprise given the cynical nature of the show. And as a final twist, we discover that the NCAA official is not only doing his job, but seeking revenge – in his college days, he was an up-and-coming cross-country runner whose scholarship was pulled in order to give it to that selfsame football coach.
