If the number of clips out there is any indication, the social media engagement over Clark is far bigger than the interest in any particular game. I know I’ve seen a lot of clips about it despite never watching a single WNBA game.
True. It happens sometimes that an athlete becomes popular outside of the normal public interest in the sport. It happened with Tiger Woods, for instance.
The point I was trying to make is not that Caitlin Clark has become so popular, but that a lot of the story around her is that she’s being discriminated against. There may be some truth to this (which you can see in how WNBA refs allow opposing players to foul her with impugnity), but the story has been exaggerated. There’s a political agenda behind it, and a fair amount of it is made up. The story about her being excluded from the All Star Game in favor of an inferior player is nonsense. Not only has Caitlin Clark not been excluded or passed over, she’s the captain of one of the teams.
like hack-a-Shaq?
Never mind
I suppose if you exclude the violence, there is very little evidence.
That is evidence of violence. Where is the evidence it’s motivated by racism?
