I have a shirt that says “w00t!” and I wear it all the time. Its one of those things where people look at you and have a confused look on their face, and others get it and yell it out in publc. [hijack] I also have a shirt that says “Will Frag for Bandwidth” that I wear frequently. Its got a little stickman with a rocket launcher or a chaingun or something. man. you should see the reactions from THAT shirt. RedDragon60 had some postits and a pen one day at school and changed it to “Will Fag for Manwidth”…definately did NOT wear that for more than a minute. lol [/hijack] telling you now, woot, wOOt, WOOT, and w00t are NOT WORDS!!! the only proper spelling of it is w00t!. you MUST put an exclamation point following it. It started out as “woohoo” but then was shortened to “woo” then eventually the t was added on…then came the 133t phase and C ]-[4 || 6 3 o| i7 411 4 |2 0 || o| till it was “w00t!” as we know it today. Max: Ok, a serious more basic reply from someone not in the computer biz that was also mystified by all this until lately (but at risk of ruining the fun here): a lot of this stuff comes from the circles of on-line gaming 15 year old nerds that have developed their own spelling trends (and are made fun of by older programmers, perpetuating the trend as a joke). Often letters or numbers and spellings are replaced by things that look like them: for example 1337 or something is used for “elite”: get it? L-eet? So one has 1337 5k1z or something for elite skills (of COURSE I don’t know how they spell this stuff). Also common misspellings are made humorously canonical, like “Pron” for porn, or “teh”, etc. “Warez” is something like software, etc. w00t comes from here also but I’m not exactly sure how. ---
