# What's with this thread?

Maybe it’s just my browser, but whenever I open [this thread](http://boards.straightdope.com/sdmb/showthread.php?t=5147) I can’t see the names of any of the posters. Everything just shows as “guest.” Other threads seem to be OK. Is there a problem, or am I losing my sanity?

This happens with older threads. I think it happened during one of the system hiccups.

The thread is from way back in 1999. At the time, we did not require Guests to register in order to post. Therefore, Guests could post anonymously as Guests if they did not sign up.
Subsequently, we changed the rules. Therefore, in old threads prior to a certain date, you will always see this.
