This is a forum. I don’t know you, you don’t know me. Why do people here and in any forum (hundreds I’ve been on) always have to be so butt-hurt and sensitive that they have to turn a discussion into personal attacks? Here’s an example of how not to debate: Person 1: “I don’t think China is responsible for the pandemic.” Person 2: “How could your mother love you?” Here’s an example of how to discuss and debate: Person 1: “I don’t think China is responsible for the pandemic.” Person 2: “Why not? Convince me. I think they are. They produced the virus in their labs.” So if you don’t agree with someone, that’s cool. Who here ever agrees with 100% of what you read or see? Just have a normal conversation and discussion about it. Tell me why you disagree and put together some coherent and reason behind it. If you just want to express how butt-hurt your feelings are start verbally abusing people, well then, that is YOUR problem, not mine. You figure out your own insecurities and emotional stability with some professional help. Other than that, learn how to debate and learn how to discuss issues like a rational, reasonable, mature human being. We don’t need immature crybabies calling everyone a troll because you disagree with their viewpoints. Cheers. ---

Cornflakes, the posts you made which have caused a negative reaction were not the equivalent of “I don’t think China is responsible for the pandemic.” You’ve made several posts in which you discuss the monetary value of how much people and things are worth to you. Many people have pointed out this is a narrow way of looking at other people. ---

How did you deduce that based on a simple question I asked: what’s your job and how much money do you make? In fact, my question is neutral. In the context that you are looking back (meaning that person you spent all your time and money on took you for a ride). Maybe we need to get “gender” out of it. Let me put into a more neutral word. Investment. If you put “X” value investment into something and you see 0 returns at the end of it, is it a stretch to call it a waste? Sure, you can use different wording. I don’t mind. Fill in the blank. Maybe it was still worth it for some. Maybe it isn’t for others. ---

If you don’t like it, stay out of the Pit. If another poster is verbally abusing **your views or arguments** by calling them stupid, offensive, sexist, ignorant, utter bullshit, or any other disparaging term, that behavior is also permitted. Don’t like other people making unflattering or contemptuous criticisms of your views or arguments? If you want to complain that the SDMB plays too rough and the rules ought to be changed to forbid unflattering or contemptuous criticisms of other posters’ views or arguments, then take it to the ATMB forum and make your case to the mods. I doubt you’ll get anywhere with your campaign, but that’s the proper venue for it. If you just want to whine about other people making unflattering or contemptuous criticisms of your own views or arguments even though the board rules allow it, then stick around so we can taunt you a second time. ---
