Two Fat Ladies. I haven’t seen it in a while due to work and Food Network moving the time around but when I do catch it I love it. My son loved the idea of Strawberry Breasts (the whipped cream berry nipples what have you they made).
Another remake of a US show in the UK: British Remake of “Who’s the Boss”
You’re chances of getting any new episodes are also pretty slim since one of the Fat Ladies is now, sadly, dead.
I know
But I did like the reruns and the wonderful cooking and stories. I also liked the “heck with counting calories” type of cookery. One dish was fried rabbit wrapped in bacon and then deep fried (or something, it’s been a while.)
Hopefully, I won’t be considered a loser to admit I enjoy Changing Rooms and Ground Force on BBC America.
Changing Rooms is another example of a cross-over. The American version being Trading Spaces . And, once again, the British version is better.
When I was visiting London from the U.S. a few years back i’d watch a morning talk show called “The Big Breakfast”.
They’d do a spoof where they’d dress up as big fat American tourists and wander around the city. It was the funniest thing i’d ever seen. “We’re from New York, the land of Huge Portions”.
Are there any other foreign shows that satire American culture?
I like Monarch of the Glen, Waking the Dead and Cracker. And I’m waiting on new episodes.
I used to love to watch Lovejoy
I keep waiting for another series with Clive Owen.
I loved Due South, find it hard to believe that it ran for such a short time. Forever Knight was fun. Can’t believe no one mentioned Highlander, (Tracker sucked).
Benny Hill was great, the humor needed no translation. I enjoy Coupling (Couplings) when I can catch it.
So Graham Norton, he’s a riot. The things people get away with saying on european TV is amazing. And confess to doing or having done!!! And we Americans thought the british were staid!
Heh. If you ever see Eurotrash, your opinion of the Germans will change radically as well…
Count me in for :
So Graham Norton
Changing Rooms
Ab Fab
What Not To Wear
Ground Force
The American remakes:
What Not To Wear
Trading Spaces (Changing Rooms)
Surprise Gardner (Ground Force)
Make me ill, talk about your rubbish! Why on earth would anybody watch those remakes if they can get the originals? The American version of What Not To Wear is just mean and nasty and Trading Spaces is all about drama queen designers.
God Bless BBC America! Now if we Yanks could just trade our President for your Prime Minister…
