My costume depends on my sewing speed. If I can finish it in time, I’m going as a black mage from Final Fantasy. If I can’t, I’m hauling out my Lenne outfit from last year. And after Halloween, I also want to get a Quistis costume done for Animaritime (have most of the materials I need already, including a whip :D) I’m not a FF fanatic, I just like the outfits. ---

Since we were invited to no awesome parties and the bar scene is really not our thing, I’ll be at the door dressed in my standby Cinderella dress. For the next party though, I’ll be working my way through med school. Lab coat with stethoscope, etc. That will be taken off multiple times through the party to reveal a stripper’s outfit. Slutty, but funny. ---

Well, now the update. We had a wildly successful party last night, we had 50 - 70 people show up(!!!) with great costumes. William Wallace was a hit, and some other highlights were the Jolly Green Giant, the Big Bad Wolf & Little Red Riding Hood, and Osama Bin Laden. Now I have ~3 cases of beer and a metric crapload of liquor left over. ---

I win the award for most unoriginal costume – I’m going to be a pirate. Specifically, I’m copying Keira Knightly’s outfit from PotC2. I just finished the costume this afternoon. It took longer than I thought since I had to adapt the pattern for the men’s costume (the women’s costume had a tight blouse and a miniskirt. I wanted pants, a puffy shirt and a vest). It actually came out pretty good. I’ll post pictures on Tuesday. ---

I was a cat. Last night was my Halloween since that’s when all the parties were scheduled. The restaurant staff also dressed up last night, and I had to work at the bar so I wore jeans and a really cool backless shirt that I rarely get to wear (because it requires one of those sticky bras…). Since my “costume” lacked a certain je ne sais quoi, I did my entire face in makeup a la _Cats_, the Broadway musical. Oh, and I had a tail. ---

Saturday night I was a SCUBA diver. I had the (farmer john kayaking) wetsuit- I added a black turtleneck. I made the tank from a sonotube (used for pouring concrete footings) and a giant Christams tree ornament. Add some plumbing and a hose - ta da! There is a party next weekend. I may go as Dr. Who #4 (already have the scarf - the rest is pretty easy) Brian ---

I am a Cheesy Pirate Wench this year for Halloween. I have a nice pic but no way to show it. I have yet to get a website so I can show pics. I am not technological and I am also lazy I guess. But it’s a fun costume. ---

I had not worn a costume in years, unless you count dressing up as ‘camcorder-dad’ and waving hi to everyone who gives my kids candy. Part of it had to do with sheer girth and clothing practicalities. This year, however, I have lost a significant amount of weight [kudos and a royalty to **Earthworm Jim** for the use of his term ‘metric crapload’. Size 38 pants never felt so good!] and I just might fit into an old monks robe stashed in somewhere in our crawlspace of pack-rattiness. ---

I haven’t dresed up yet, and when I walked into work people noticed and got mad. I do have a creapy old man mask with a really long beard, and a cape I think I’ll wear to give out candy. I haven’t even set up my house yet, and I’ve always done that two to three days in advance. Maybe I should have just worn my swim suit to work today since I was at the pool, wonder what they would of thought of that! ---

For work-biker chick. It’s going pretty well, especially with the fake tattoo sleeves! After work-goth fairy. Not very imaginative, but the sheer impracticality of the giant, tulle-covered wingspan will overcome that, I’m hoping. I’m also excited b/c I get to have a wand and be COVERED in glitter. Good times. ---

I was going to be Dr. Girlfriend from **The Venture Bros.** , but I don’t think I’m actually going to dress up today. Which is something of a shame as it took me over a month to sew the dress/hat and find the right wig. I suppose part of the reason is that I’m not comfortable with how the breasts look (balloons wrapped in gauze don’t seem to be cutting it) and this was only my third experience sewing something as complicated as her l’il Jackie O number. Oh, well. There’s always next year and at least my legs are nice and smooth. ---

Last year, knowing my penchant for odd, nerdy, and sometimes abstract costumes, one of the other grad students challenged me to go as the Vacuum Energy. Well, of course, I can’t pass up a challenge like that. So I’ll be wearing a twine grid framework representing a de Sitter expanding universe, with pipe-cleaner vacuum Feynman diagrams hanging from it. I reckon it’s probably my second-nerdiest costume ever. I won’t be winning any awards, though… The host of the Halloween party has decided to just re-name the “What the Hell were you thinking?” award after me after three consecutive years, so I’m no longer eligible for it :):(.
