A positive earworm here: Modest Mouse’s new song _Florida_. It rocks my socks. Johnny Marr plays on the track, and the backing vocals are from the lead singer of The Shins - who I need to check out, stat. ---

Someone mentioning “it’s the end of the world” in the hated foodtv thread has inexplicably left me with “Texarkana” as my earworm: 20,000 miles to an oasis, 20,000 years will I burn, 20,000 chances I’ve wasted, Waiting for the moment to turn… Which kinda makes sense, since I was listening to _Eponymous_ on the way into work. But “Texarkana” isn’t on _Eponymous_. :dubious: ---

**Borderline** , by Madonna. I have no idea why. I’m not a particular Madonna fan, and I don’t own any Madonna albums. Most likely, I heard the word “Borderline” this morning or last night, and a bunch of synapses fired off in a bizarre way. ---

I knew about Johnny Marr, but I didn’t know about the Shins singer being involved. I’ve listened to The Shins’ new album almost every day since it came out, I love it so much. I definitely have to hear the MM song now. Thanks for the heads up. In semi-related news, according to _Entertainment Weekly_, Morrisey would “rather eat his own testicles” than reunite The Smiths. On my way to class two nights ago I heard a new song on the radio: “Here (In Your Arms)” by Hellogoodbye. I liked it so much that I texted myself the artist/title when the DJ back-announced, and it’s been stuck in my head ever since. Last night I downloaded it from iTunes, and this morning I was walking around singing the chorus (“Well you are the one, the one that lies close to me…”) to myself. I hadn’t heard the term **earworm** before; you can bet I’ll be using it now, though. I’ve had Cat Steven’s _Tea for the Tillerman_ running off and on for the last couple of weeks. I am dying for more episodes of _Extras_ and it’s killing me. ---

The song that finally left my mind after at least 2 months of non-stop repeating in my head was _Anna Molly_ by Incubus. I think what really made it stick was that I had three different versions of the title line: “Anna Molly”, which sounds like he’s saying “anomaly”, which I then replaced with “animal-y”. Before that it was _Run_ by Snow Patrol. ---
