What's your experiences with full service gas?

They still do this at stations on the NJ Turnpike. After inserting the nozzle in your tank and starting the gas, the attendant cleans your windshield and asks if you would like him to check your oil. It’s just part of the service. I have noticed, however, that the service is better the further south the station is on the Turnpike. At Joyce Kilmer and Grover Cleveland, they sometimes forget to clean your windshield. They’re pretty consistent with it at Molly Pitcher and Woodrow Wilson, unless it’s really busy.

Are you trying to say that a tire’s air pressure is self correcting? If I drive 20 miles and my air pressure is 50% of the specified value, it’s still okay? Are is my lack of reading comprehension kicking in?

No, but the temperature of the tire increases, and thus, the air pressure increases. It’s high school chemistry/physics at work.

I didn’t know how to pump gas until I had a date in NE Philadelphia. I lived in New Jersey the time of my license. In NJ, NO pumps are self service. It is insured, regulated and a crapload cheaper than over the Delaware River border.

I had at least four or five friends growing up who pumped the gas. In the winter. In the rain. In the snow. You’d be surprised how much they got in tips (and they weren’t supposed to take 'em. The hell I wouldn’t in that weather.)

I also had at least 17 or 18 free ice scrapers in the back of my '83 Skyhawk. You got a free one whenever you filled up in the winter.

When I was in high school, I was a pump jockey. The month of December, I made about $1000 in tips alone.

I really doubt that driving one mile to my nearest full service gas station will significantly heat my tires; I probably misunderstood you, especially as you misspelled “tire” and “oil pan.” (I actually like the use of the word "sump.)
