David Allen Coe “You Never Even Call Me by My Name” a.k.a. “the perfect country-western song”
I’m not sure I could pick a favourite but it would definitely be something by either Flight of the Conchords (maybe Think About It or The Most Beautiful Girl in the Room ) or Tenacious D (maybe City Hall or Beelzeboss ).
“The Vatican Rag,” by Tom Lehrer; “Lounge Pianist’s Lament” by Lauren Mayers; "Itazuke Tower
You’ve posted some great selections! Been listening to them all morning. Needed a good laugh. Thanks.
Anyone remember Jim Stafford’s Spiders and Snakes ? Really funny.

“I was nervous, as you might guess, ‘still looking for somethin’ to slip down her dress, and she said, ‘Let’s make it perfectly clear’ I don’t like Spiders and Snakes and thats not what it takes to be loved by you.

Martin Mull would place high on my list, for Men or Half Hour of Heaven (and Eight Hours of Sleep).
I’ll see that and raise you “The Night Santa Went Crazy”.
With apologies if this one’s been mentioned already, but Weird Al’s “The Saga Begins” is a huge improvement over the actual movie.
We caught a ride back to Naboo
‘Cause Queen Amidala wanted to
I frankly would’ve liked to stay
We all fought in that epic war
And it wasn’t long at all before
Little Hotshot flew his plane and saved the day
And in the end some Gunguns died
Some ships blew up and some pilots fried
A lot of folks were croakin’
The battle droids were broken
And the Jedi I admire most
Met up with Darth Maul and now he’s toast
Well, I’m still here and he’s a ghost
I guess I’ll train this boy
And I was singin’ …
My my this here Anakin guy
May be Vader someday later - now he’s just a small fry
And he left his home and kissed his mommy goodbye
Sayin’ “Soon I’m gonna be a Jedi”
“Soon I’m gonna be a Jedi”

What act is he parodying? (even in his originals he does parody a group or genre)
Well, the OP did say “parody or comic song ”. It doesn’t have to be a parody.

This one is my favorite by Weird Al (and I like a LOT of his stuff so Amy’s dis on TBBT caused a scowl) just because the imagery is hilarious.
I’d rather jump naked on a huge pile of thumb tacks
or stick my nostrils together with Krazy Glue
I’d rather dive into a swimming pool filled with double-edged razor blades
than spend one more minute with you.
The only song in a similar vein that comes close is “I Can’t Stand Losing” by The Police.
My 2nd favorite Weird Al is “I’ll Sue Ya” done in the style of Rage Against The Machine, perfectly.
My all-time fave comic song will always be “Institutionalized” by The Suicidal Tendencies, just the original version though.
I’m partial to “I’ll hold your hand in mine” by Tom Lehrer - a perfect sad love song!
“July 13th, 1985” John Wesley Harding. A song about Live Aid.
“Ten Foot Cock and a Few Hundred Virgins” and “Thank You God” by Tim Minchin
“Chow Down (at Chik-Fil-A)”, “Blurred Bynes” and “Boy is a Bottom” by Willam
“Ghandi Buddha” and its counter version by Cheryl Wheeler
“Three Little Words” by Da Vinci’s Notebook
And echoing previous posters with “Hardware Store” Weird Al Yankovic
For the Canadian Division, I’ll add Bowser and Blue’s “Working Where the Sun Don’t Shine .”
Also, “Carrot Juice is Murder ” by the Arrogant Worms.
Forgot about DaVinci’s Notebook. Their send-up of boy-band songs, “Title of the Song,” has got to be one of the best exercises in self-reference ever.
I didn’t know anybody else around here knew that song. Have you heard When the Beatles Hit America ?
Excellent choice.
