What's your favorite planet?

Eris is an attention whore. Pluto still rules.

Mercury. It’s small and eccentric, like me!

I chose “Other/Oort Cloud (not Earth)”, in order to specify Ceti Alpha V.

Venus
I’m a Taurus, I’m ruled by Venus, the planet named for the Goddess of Love of Beauty.
I might get smote if I pick a different planet.

Well, of the ones I’ve visited…

Mercury because it’s days are longer than it’s years.

So far, it’s gotta be Mars. We don’t have as many cool pics of the other planets yet.

Thanks for the ear worm.

Due to budget constraints, we will not get to probe Uranus any time soon :frowning:

Ceres.

Venus.

Because she’s got it, yeah baby, she’s got it.

Titan, moon of Saturn. Bigger than our moon, second largest moon in the solar system. It has a dense atmosphere and liquid (methane and ethane) on the surface. Plus, what a view up in the sky!

Jupiter. Not only does it have the best theme tune (Mars is pretty good too) it also does Earth a solid by attracting cosmic bric-a-brac with its massive gravity well (wallop!).

What’s your favorite planet? Mine’s the sun! I like it because it’s like the king of planets.

I like it hot. I voted Mercury.

Saturn - because of the rings of course, and the fact that since we have a dedicated probe taking pics almost every day, it turns out to have some of the strangest/coolest moons and things going on in its atmosphere. Hexagonal polar storms? WTF?

One of the complaints about Pluto is that the barycenter of Charon’s orbit is not within Pluto, that they mutually orbit a point that is between the two. Weak sauce, really, when you consider that the barycenter of Jupiter’s orbit is above the surface of the sun. Which makes Jupiter pretty awesome.

But I still like Saturn better. I mean they named a winter festival after it. But mostly for all the weird things in Saturn space. The co-orbital moons Janus and Epimethus, the geysers of Enceladus, the two-toned Iapetus (where Clarke put the second monolith in the original book), Hyperion the sponge and of course smoggy Titan. And there is the very odd hexagonal weather pattern at the south pole.

Seriously, why be normal?

Saturn for the rings - a nice permanent camp on Mimas looks good to me from a quick look on Celestia.

Okay, that adds up. Each explains the other.

Myself, I vote for Tralfamadore.

Venus. Mapping its progression across the sky was my favorite part of my sophomore year Ptolemy class. She dances.
