My favorite T-shirt is a plain white T-shirt with plain white lettering (you have to look close to see it. Many people double-take because they think they see something) and it says: “THIS IS NOT HERE” (inspired by John Lennon. ---

The best shirts I have ever owned (and then again, some of the worst. NEVER buy a t-shirt on… on… nevermind. They are just not that funny!) came from a number of different Dead shows. A few that come to mind right away…. Hobbs (The tiger, not the philosopher) and The Cat in the Hat meeting each other at a crossroads. Each has a huge grin on their face, and have their hands extended toward each other. The caption _Strangers meeting strangers, just to shake their hand_ written below. If you know the song, you know how cool that shirt was. Or a forest scene on the front with the question _what do you do if you are surrounded by bears?_ Back: _Play Dead_. Same picture, but with Dead-bears dancing, poking out from behind the trees, etc. _Morning Dew_ in the Mountain Dew logo. Lesh, written in the style of Miller Light’s lable. _Lesh filling, bass great_ …and of course, the simple _Thank you Jerry_ Damn I miss the Dead! Oh yea… on a non-Dead note. I had one a looong time ago that had a picture of Einstien on the front with a cop-hat on and his hand out. Caption said something like _186,000,000 miles a second. It’s not just a good idea, it’s the law_. Hope you remember the original ad. ## Thanks for listening! My two favorite shirts: My Postal T-Shirt. It’s from that incredibly violent game a few years back (that my wife bought me for my birthday). On the front is just the word “Postal” in dripping red letters. On the back is a large yellow sign showing a stick figure running with scissors. ## The other is my recently acquired “Campus Crusade for Cthulhu” shirt. I am Chaos, I am alive, and I tell you that you are free. ---

And damn you Rthym for stealing my “Bass Great, Lesh Philing” nomination. Although it’s got to be the most creative shirt I’ve ever seen (“A Fine Bass Player” indeed). I also like the “Air Jerry” take-off on the Air Jordan logo (a silhouette of Jerry looking like he’s gonna’ slam dunk his guiter). The “Spaceman Spleef” take-off on Calvin and Hobb’s Spaceman Spiff is pretty good, too. As is the “Dead Crossing” sign with the Skeletons walking across the front. There’s one that I made that kicks ass. It says P R I C K on the front and on the back it says Practice Random Violence and Senseless Acts of Cruelty. I love that spoof so much I copyrighted it. The other one is a concert shirt. It’s black and faded, and has a street sign on the front depicting a stick cop harrassing a stick guy. The sign has the initials W.M.A. on it. On the back it says POLICE in big white block letters. Any pearl jam fans out there? Those are the only two really. I made t-shirts for a while as a hobby, but it never took off so I quit. I know, what a loser. ## The most popular ones that I was able to sell were the red ones that have a nametag on the front that says “Is my name High?” and the one that says “Nice guys finish last…” on the front and “…but isn’t that what most women want?” on the back. College students just seem to love T-shirts. how did it start? well i don’t know i just feel the craving. i see the flesh and it smells fresh and it’s just there for the taking… VvvV ---

My favourite T-shirt was sold by X-West, but they sold the copyright and the guy who bought it closed his store. There was a circular design on the front that said “Mojave Desert Aero Club”. The picture was a crashed B-17 with a skeleton pilot in the cockpit window. I “road sign” pointed to various points with “Edwards AFB”, “Mojave”, “Rosamond” and another city (“Lancaster”?) on it. In the background was a small planview of a B-2 streaking across the sky. I don’t wear it any more because I can’t get any more. I should contact the copyright owner and see if he’ll let me run a few copies. ---

Favorite T-Shirt I wish I still had: A black T-shirt with a picture of Moe Howard and the phrase “Just Say Moe” in red letters. Favorite T-Shirt I’m willing to wear: Foghorn Leghorn saying, “That’s a joke, son.” Seems to sum up a lot of reactions to my humor. Favorite T-Shirt I’m **not** willing to wear in public: “Adolph Hitler European Tour, 1939-1945” with tour dates on the back (1939: Poland; 1940: France; 1941 Britain (cancelled); 1941-1945 Russia; 1945 The Bunker (Sold Out!)) I saw one the other day that said " dyslexics untie!" which had me rolling. I would give an arm and a leg if anyone can tell me where to get an “I’m with stupid” shirt with the arrow pointing up. I’ve wanted one of those for maybe 20 years. The best one I ever got was given to me by a bunch of people I worked with at an old job. I was the only white employee, everyone else was black. We often had race discussions, and one time after someone had said something along the lines of " All whites think like so and so," I pointed out that I didn’t think that way, and they replied, " yea Dave, but we think of you as black". The next week they gave me a “black by popular demand” t-shirt. I never wear it, 'cuz I know some folks will be offended, but the thought behind it means a lot to me. * * * Cecil said it. My current favorite is my Far Side tee of the School for the Gifted where the kid is pushing on the pull door. Tee-hee. (still makes me giggle) My favorite t-shirt used to be my “Frankie say relax” tee that I, of course, cut the neck out of wore off the shoulder, but that shirt died in the mid '80s. Actually gave this one to a friend- White, with Daedalus Books on the front and a pair of folded wings on the back. One of my roomates often wears a “Can’t sleep, clowns will eat me” shirt. I love the old Smiley face with a bullet hole picture!
