But really, I tend to like individual songs or, if I am lucky, albums more than the entire output of a band or singer.
Honorable mentions: Cream, Rush and Black Sabbath.
Another old dude says - In no random order:
The Soft Boys
Pink Floyd*
Led Zeppelin
The Who
Steely Dan - why no votes yet?
Honerable mention, any of Frank Zappa’s bands.
Oh bugger forgot the Beatles. But they’re a given right? So… no need to include, ha! sorted.
*including The Wall but nothing later.
The classics:
Aerosmith
Metallica
Led Zeppelin
The Doors
The Rolling Stones
In rotating order.
For these modern times, I’d have to include OutKast and Black Eyed Peas, but I refuse to take any of the others out.
Great choices, all of you, but I just must say that I have had major issues with Steely Dan ever since a couple of years ago when they won every frickin’ Grammy for an album nobody even listened to, when the awards should have gone to Eminem, IMO. Just had to vent a sec; no offense intended toward Small Clanger, Steely Dan, Jesus, or anyone else for that matter.
OK yellowval I’ll substitute Doll by Doll for Steely Dan, no-one will take offence at that 'coz no-one but me seems to have heard of them.
No, no, you don’t have to change them out! I’m not saying they’re not worthy of being on your top five, just that the dinosaurs who vote for the Grammys could stand to “live in the now” just a tad … oh shit, I think I may have just implied that you are a dinosaur as well. I think I’ll just shut up now!
In no particular order, today’s top five:
Wilco
Pixies
Pavement
Modest Mouse
The Clash
To many honorable mentions to mention.
Dang! Yeah, The Soft Boys…
Stupid 5 band lists.
1 - Green Day [Before Nimrod]
2 - Coheed & Cambria
3 - AFI
4 - NOFX
5 - Strung Out/Thrice [Both are so good! Even though I haven’t listened to Thrice’s new CD, ]
BTWAtlantarage, Is Kerry Getz the singer of any relation to Kerry Getz the skateboarder? :dubious:
