Usually coffee. Tried once to edit a book chapter while demolishing a six pack of regular Coors. Felt smooth and suave and oh-so able until I viewed the gibberish I’d written the next morning. Funny to see the deterioration of syntax as the timeline of alcohol progressed. Had I been driving I’d be part of a bridge abutment now. ---

Coke. Definitely Coke. But I can’t drink the stuff constantly so I have water in between. I mostly drink Wal-Mart’s _Dr. Thunder_, which is as close as you’re ever going to get to Dr. Pepper for a quarter a can. ---

Another vote for Twinings tea here! Today’s selection: Darjeeling Tea, “a fine blend of teas with a delicate flavour which was enjoyed at the most exclusive clubs in London’s West End”. Well, jeez, it tastes just like…tea. (Technically I’m not supposed to be drinking anything at the keyboard ever since An Unfortunate Incident took place last year. Did you know you can take the back off the keyboard, dry it with a hairdryer and cotton swabs, and it’ll be good as new? The trick is when you put the back back on, don’t screw it on too tightly.) ---
