It’s not quite fast food, depending on how fast is “fast” to you; it’s more diner food. But the Greek fries at [Cross-Rhodes,](http://metromix.chicagotribune.com/search/31493,0,556685.venue) the Greek diner across the alley from the house I grew up in, are the best fries I’ve ever had anywhere, bar none. Lemon and oregano sauce - yum! (Damn, now I’m craving them, and I’d sworn to eat healthy today. But maybe a trip up to Evanston is in order.) ---

Currently, the #1 at McDonald’s, though I try to limit it to once every other month. If I were back in Cali, it would be the double double at [In-N-Out](http://www.in-n-out.com/). ---

There is an A&W/KFC not far from where I work. I like a couple of the 99 cent Snackers from the KFC menu and deep fried cheese curds and a large root beer from the A&W menu. ---

Does Jack-in-the Box (I feel dirty just writing it) still make the deep fried taco? They where the best after a night of partying. Nowadays, it would the Wendys double with cheese please. Last night my meal was soup from a local joint (only 25 miles from home). Tomato beef and cheese soup. And I added a slice of houch …horse. horuseradidi… hourseradish chedder on top. Gotta go… I’ve got more. ---

Big Macs and fries. No onions on the Mac. I can only eat the Big Mac as long as the sauce lasts, though. It’s the sauce that does it. No sauce, no fun. ---

I’m a sucker for Jack in the Box’s Southwestern chicken salad, which as a salad, probably doesn’t quite qualify for a guilty pleasure. It’s no diet salad though. But the chocolate malted shake that I order with it once in a blue moon certainly does. ---

Double quarter pounder with cheese. No onions. No pickles. Extra ketchup. Take off the lid, put your fries in the burger. Damn that’s some good, greasy eatin’. My favourite guilty fast food pleasure, however, is something I can no longer have. Not unless I decide to take a whirlwind trip to Sydney, just to catch the train 45 minutes out to Fairfield… There’s a little kebab (yiros, gyro, wtf ever you want to call it) shop that does your usual, chicken kebabs, beef kebabs, chips, salads etc. But they’ve come up with the brilliant idea of putting kebab meat on chips (fries). Chicken kebab & chips, with chicken salt and hommus. I’d kill for one of those right now… ---

Every time I give blood, I go across the street to Long John Silver’s and get half a dozen hushpuppies with a handful of crispy bits (that’s batter that drips off the fish into the fryer.) If I’m running errands around lunch time, sometimes I’ll get a BigMac, or a Whopper, or a coupla White Castles and onion chips. I can’t seem to go 60 days without a stromboli from Scampy’s Annex. ---

I ate far too much of it over the winter, but my quickfix was from the McDonalds conveniently situated 200 yards from where I was staying. The sirens call lures me in for my usual, a Double Chee and a Fruit and Yogurt Parfait. Awesome combo for $2. ---

McDonalds sausage and egg McMuffins. Thankfully, I don’t wake up early enough to get them on the weekends, and there aren’t any convenient McD’s on the way to work. I’m also on the bandwagon w/ the Ultimate Cheeseburger (add lettuce and tomatoes, take off all the necessary condiments), and if that wasn’t bad enough, now they’re making them with **sourdough**. :eek: (Actually, I think you could always get them on sourdough if you asked; I seem to remember a college buddy of mine doing it…) ---

I have a standing appointment for dinner out with my teenager on Thursday nights. She doesn’t want to go anywhere but McDonalds. And if I must eat at McDonalds, then it naturally follows that I must have a Quarter Pounder with Cheese, fries, and a Coke. It’s my prize for being such a wonderful parent. ---
