What's your middle name?

Ann, which is my mother’s middle name, too, which I guess is the reason I have it. I’ve always thought my middle name is sort of plain, sort of boring, and I don’t like it much with my first name, Tara. It’s okay though, could be a lot worse.

Walter - My paternal grandfather’s first name. It’s also my father’s middle name.

Liam

Carner, which was my great-grandfather’s last name. I’m a genealogist and have traced it back to Germany.

William, which was my Grandfather’s first name.

Kathryn ( I go by Kathy). It’s my paternal grandmother’s middle name, she was called Kate. Neither one of us use/used our first names.

Renee with an incorrect accent over the second e. My mother wanted “something French”.

Chi Wah.

No, nothing to do with Chihuahuas or tiny Mexican dogs. (as my friend Eric was fond of joking about a couple of years back)

My brother, sister, and I all have middle names having to do with trees. Miine means “catalpa tree”… the simpler name for this tree is “cigar tree.” Apparently, there are lots of these trees in China… and even some in Vancouver. In China, it’s called “the king of trees.” (I got this information from the church botanist, who’s seemingly named quite a few of us)

When my friend Eric heard this information, he joked: “So there must be a lot of short trees in China?” Hey, I might be short, but watch what you say!

The church botanist named his own kids Mimosa, Tilia, and Ficus. He even named my friend Citrus, who didn’t like his name at first. (of course) Now, he’s fine with it… he’s affectionately known as the “Lemon Lime [Blue Jay] Orange Man” around us.

Stewart.

Could be worse. I have an ancestor named David Eliphalet Scott.

What the hell kinda name is Eliphalet?
