What's your most "awwwwwww!" memory?

To continue the kitty-free hijacking…

My boyfriend has been moving in for the last few weeks, as such there are boxes and milk crates piled everywhere as we slowly get thru sorting and reorganizing things. It’s stressing both of us out, but since we work opposite shifts there’s precious little time together to figure stuff out.

This week was my birthday, and the BF apologizes about the general chaos, since I can’t even have family over for dinner with all the mess. I assure him it’s no big deal, my parents aren’t even in town and it’s fine. He’s gotta work, I’ve gotta work, life goes on, right?

The night before my birthday, he wakes me at midnight to wish me HB and give me a new CD by one of my favorite bands, that was pretty sweet. (Especially since he let me go right back to sleep!)

The big Awww was coming home the next day to find a miraculously cleared kitchen table set with candles and flowers and place mat with silverware and a note informing me that my favorite meal was prepared and waiting in the fridge. Huge awww, even though he had to work he got up extra early to shop for ingredients and cook and set everything up so I still had a lovely birthday dinner.

Maybe not the most ‘awwwww’ for me ever, but in recent memory me and my family saw a quack of ducklings, with mom in the front, trooping across a wooden bridge at Disney. It was a literal ‘make way for ducklings’ moment!

Another non-feline moment:

I was in the car with all three kids–my oldest was up front with me and the two youngest in were in the back seat. These two hold a black belt in bickering and have been clocked at 300 “uh-uh/uh-huh, is too/is not” exchanges per hour. Today, I glanced in the rear view mirror and saw that my son (age 7) was lying over with his head on the pull-down arm rest. As I watched, his five-year-old sister stroked his hair and then leaned over and kissed him on the head.

It was definitely “awwww-some!”

An Awwww moment that happened today at work:

My fellow security guard at the mall saw a mother duck and about 10 fuzzy ducklings crossing a 4 lane highway. We managed to get them out of the road, but there was no way these things were going to make it to the nearby pond on their own. So me and my trainee, the big bad security guards that we are, decided that it was our mission of the day to save the baby ducks. While my trainee held the peck-happy mother duck at bay (outranking someone is great), I gathered all 10 ducklings into a paper shopping bag. It is the cutest thing every seeing 10 little yellow fluffy things run around peeping, let me tell you.

Anyway, we managed to get them and the mother to the pond safely, to the cheers of a growing crowd of onlookers. I tell ya, we deserve medals.

I think I just over- "squeeee"ed and sprained something.

TOO! MUCH! CUTENESS!!

They tend to do that when no one is looking. My son and daughter are like oil and water most days, but let Ivygirl mention some teenaged boy talked to her and paid attention to her, and Ivyboy’s Older Brother Protective Radar kicks in and he’s all over the topic, wanting details and descriptions and blood types.

SWMBO and I have been together for 14+ years. My awwwww moment came when her daughter, age 6 at the time, came wandering out of her room, climbed up in my lap and fell asleep with me holding her.

I love cats, but that beat them bigtime.

Wow. Does Kitty-Story automatically trigger the Awww……reflex?

Here’s mine -sort of.

Traveling in the car with our beloved -and now departed- Siamese Loki -who comprises the middle part of minlokwat…

I was at a traffic light and Loki decides to come up on my lap and begins rubbing his face against my chin, this being the universally regarded feline “I love you” signal.

I thought nothing of it since this was a regular occurrence between Loki and me but the car to my right had a woman who was engrossed in the goings-on with that “awwwww….” open mouthed look and I was pleased to be part of the scene.

I miss him so much.

As I’ve shared before, Mr. AdoptaMom is a big, tall, ZZ-Topish looking kind of guy … not someone you’d look at and expect to be the tenderhearted marshmallow he most certainly is. His appearance and his demeanor are at odds with one another often, and most recently when he ran to Circle K to pick up a gallon of milk for dinner.

When he returned he sheepishly stuck his head in the front door and said that he’d brought a little something extra home … something quite furry and cute! After searching his truck high and low, we finally discovered the tiniest little black kitten he’d rescued from almost getting run over across three lanes of very busy traffic. Her eyes were sealed shut with eye infection goopy and had been for quite some time. She literally couldn’t see the traffic she’d been running in!

I had my doubts if she would make it through the night until we could get her to a vet the next morning, but she did and although she lost the sight in one eye, the infection has now completely cleared up in the other. She was initially extremely wild but after two weeks is completely tame and sweet. She litter trained herself in less than a day and is now mistress of the house, dethroning Sophie the Slut, Cinderella, and completely captivating our golden retriever, Jenny, who has taken to mothering the little puffball.

When I think of hubby out there chasing this little puff of fur across lanes of busy traffic to rescue her … an “awe” moment for sure. Just another reason I love that man.

As my first official act as a new IMHO mod, I think I’ll move this to MPSIMS.

Everybody all together now: AWWWWWWWWWWWWWW!
