What's your name?

The sad thing is, I immediately thought, “Could he be talking about me?”

And then I kinda realized how unlikely that is…

Um, no.

Yes, quite.

First ‘Niamh’ chiming in.

  • pronounced ‘neev’.

Huh? I was talking about *my * name, Meena. Unless your friends ragged n you by a girl’s name???

Valerie
I like my name and always have. I just dislike people who spell it Valarie and/or call me Val when I just introduced myself as Valerie. Only friends and family may call me Val.

My mom’s middle name is Ann, too. My middle name is Marie (“Jennifer Marie” is extremely common, at least among women my age), but my confirmation name is Anne – deliberately with an e on the end, so that it’s not the same as Mom’s middle name.

I am fairly certain that I am the only Joan on the boards.

Yes they did. Meena/Meenakshi/Meenu. Your name just brought back some memories.

So I guess that makes me the second Meena on this board

The name’s Laine. Chat E. Laine.

Now that the obligatory Bond reference is out of the way, I’m Elizabeth. Eliza and Lillibet in the past, Liz to everyone else [I’m going to change to Liz legally at some point]. Not Beth and never Lizzie.

Well, I wasn’t going to participate, but (unless I am mistaken) I haven’t noticed any other Daniel here. I’m Dan usually, except when one friend answers the phone (having seen me on Caller ID) he says “D-D-D-DD-Daaaaan!”

Don’t have too many hang-ups over my name, the exception being Danny. Meh.

I always wanted to be named Mike, so in elementery school when we would write stories, I would always name the hero Mike.

Morris?

Maurice?

Left Hand of Dorkness signs his posts “Daniel.” He apparently hasn’t posted in this thread yet, though.

There’s also Dantheman and another poster with “Dan” in their name, although I’m drawing a blank on that one right now.

Dominic

Wendy

My mom is a Charlene (for her father, Charles), and has always gone by Charlie. She’s lately taken to spelling it Charlee.

Did folks plague you with Charlie perfume, whether you liked it or not? Mom probably still has unused bottles tucked away from the 70’s!

Only McKenzie! dances around

My mother claims she named me a deliberate unisex/boys name (more so in 1980 than now) so that on job applications and other forms that were not allowed to ask you gender that I would not be discriminated against. Who knows if that was the ultimate reason but it’s pretty cool! Go Mom!

And Elenia28 - a good friend of mine in college was Meenakshi! I hadn’t ever encountered it before. I really like it!

People call me Chris.
