What's your opinion of sour beers?

Love them. I haven’t tried many of them, but all the ones I’ve had were delicious. I think one of my favorites was a saison dupont although lambics are very nice as well. I’m going to have to convince the SO to head over to Deschutes Pub this weekend and see if we can get the Dissident on tap.

Yeah I’ll get more of them, except this time it’ll be the 12oz bottles.

I find them quite vile. Had a number of traditional sour Belgian ales … blech.

Love them, Ommegang Rouge is the pinnacle of deliciousness to me. The Rodenbach Grand Cru is good in a pinch, and cheaper for a big bottle than La Folie. Monk’s Cafe I found too sweet.

I once ordered a Berliner weissbier at a brewpub (Cambridge Brewing Company), not knowing what it was. Hey, I love German wheat beers so how could it go wrong? Well it was so sour that I couldn’t drink more than a few sips. That particular brewpub tends to be very experimental, with greatly mixed results outside of their (quite good) standards. So I don’t know if that’s really what a Berliner wessbier is actually supposed to taste like…

Linemans fruity lambics are ok – though I think they pretty much taste like sprite with a shot of fruit syrup. IOW I won’t seek them out but I’ll contentedly drink them if someone else is.
