I broke down and got a new mobile phone last week. I’d been using my Nokia 2160 that I got several years ago. Worked fine, really. But a friend was interested in a mobile phone and we got roped in to one of those aggressive mobile phone providors that set themselves up in malls. I ended up getting a Motorola camera phone with Bluetooth. (I’ll have to get the iMac up and running so I can use the Bluetooth.) I checked the available ringtones, and the Motorola didn’t have the ‘ring-ring’ that I had on my Nokia. It didn’t really have any ‘phone-like’ rings. So I downloaded _The Peter Gunn Theme_ (for three bucks! :mad: ). I chose _Peter Gunn_ because A) I used to play _Spyhunter_ a lot when I hung out in arcades; B) it will ‘go with my car’ (when I get it); and C) I really like the tune. What’s your ringtone? ---

I don’t like musical ringtones myself, too much like Muzak… :shudders at the thought of Muzak:: …anyway. I’ve always had the regular _rrrrrrrrring_ until a couple of days ago when I changed it to a recording of an Andrew Lawrence\* song. \*Andrew Lawrence is a British comedian who sings. If you know him and like him, I admire your taste. The song in question is “Bitch from the Lake” available from all good students when we pester him enough to release a CD ---

I usually keep mine on vibrate when in public and on my body. At home it just has the default ring tone which sounds like a regular cell phone. Nothing fancy. ---

I have KISS singing Rock and Roll All Night because my kid loves KISS and I love him. I paid 2 bucks for it. My husband was using my phone once instead of his and thought his MP3 player was playing two songs at once. ---

I keep mine on vibrate most of the time, but when I’m using an actual ringing tone, it’s _Hava Nagila_ for people in my phone book and something called “Funk” for anyone else. Both were on my phone already. ---

The first one on the list for people in my phonebook (and for all the alarms) and the second one on the list for everyone else (invariably telemarketers). As soon as I got my new phone I spent about 2 hours disabling all the animations and flashing lights and stuff to improve the battery life. I like my phone simple. ---

I use the Fraggle Rock theme as my default ringtone. No one else has it, so there is no wondering if it’s me or someone else ringing. ---

Either vibrate or riiiing-ring (also known as Ring 6). I hate hearing others’ musical ring tones, so I sure don’t want that crap coming out of my mobile phone. ---

I have my phone set to vibrate, then ring. If I don’t pick up, I’m greated by Richard Nixon saying, “The people what to know if their President is a crook. Well, I’m not a crook. I’ve earned everything I’ve got.” I never have to wonder who’s phone is ringing. ---

For numbers not in my phone book, the Zelda 3 main theme. For family, the Zelda 3 woods theme. For friends, the FF3 victory music. For work, the Zelda 3 boss theme. For my boyfriend, the FF3 Zozo theme. (He likes that one and insisted.) ---

I am a ringtone slut, I’m afraid. I can customize my ringtones to the callers, so I went utterly mad. When Mom calls, it plays The Godfather Theme. For the in-laws, it’s Tubular Bells. My husband’s ring is Anything For Love. My daughter’s - Loony Toons Theme. Best friend - Feelin’ Groovy My friend Kathleen - Irish Washerwoman My friend Monti - How Bizzare My friend Michael - Tarzan Boy Default (everyone else) ringer is Fatboy Slim’s Praise You. ---

The Darkness “I Believe in a Thing Called Love” used to be my default… Then my girlfriend made it her special ring. Everyone else gets this funny space jazz one that came with the phone. I also have Johnny Cash’s “I Walk the Line” but rarely use it because starts slow and it cuts off before it gets to the actual line “I walk the line”. ---

Mine currently plays Bach’s _Toccata & Fugue_. However, when I just went into my phone to confirm the spelling of “Toccata”, I noticed you can write your own ring tones. So, I’ll be spending my lunch hour outside today, figuring out _The Emperor’s March_. ---

“Big Yellow Taxi.” I never had one before. I really liked the simple little 5-tone ringer on my cheap Nokia, but I broke it a few months ago, and when I upgraded to a Samsung, all the ringers were hideous and annoying. They sounded like dying doorbells, so I broke down and bought an actual song for a ringtone. ---

Mozart Rondo al Turque right now. I desperately wish I knew enough about plugging in the numbers to make a custom one, because I would love the dialtones from the dialing portion of the live version of Du Hast by Rammstein. ---
