I believe in signs and portents. But not really, because intellectually, I know it’s silly. For example, several years ago, I was invited out to drinks with coworkers at a new job. I didn’t know anybody really well and I was nervous about going and had almost decided not to. In the hours leading up to the get together, amazing things kept happening to me. The day had a feeling of rightness about it to me and I decided if I went for drinks, it would be a great experience. The signs pointed to it! And it was… I met the man who eventually would become my current partner. If I’m planning to do something and I start experience bad thing after bad thing, I may reexamine my choice. Me noticing omens is probably just my subconscious confirming or reexamining things I’ve decided on… but whatever works, right? ---

I don’t think karma counts as woo – it makes sense that if you’re an asshole, it’s eventually going to come back and smack you right in the face. Piss off enough people…BANG! 😉 When it comes to sports, I am extremely superstitious. I will NOT say, “oh, we’re going to win this one!” because I don’t want to jinx things. My mother always irritates me, because I’ll be watching a hockey game, and she’ll come by and see the score and say, “oh, we’re winning,” when the score is say, 2-1. SHUT UP!!! I have to have my lucky stuffed penguin, Sidney nearby when I’m watching the Pens. (I’m almost convinced that the reason the Canadiens didn’t make it to the Stanley Cup finals is because P.K. Subban mentioned something about “WHEN we win the Cup”. Not that I care. HA HA!) ---
