Formal/opulent? Rustic/outdoorsy? Contemporary? Euro? Country? Mine are “understated elegance” and “classic casual.” My stainless steel Seiko quartz watch, simple and clean. My 20 year old Rockport’s…timeless. My maple futon with colorful but subdued contemporary print cover. My framed Maher Morcos Venice print. My gray rugby pullover with stonewashed jeans. Luxurious/formal looks just seem ostentatious to me. Old pickups and log cabins just don’t have the touch of refinement I like. The European design flair is just a bit funky for my American eyes. Even if I try to learn to like other styles, I can’t seem to…I guess there’s something built-in about it. What are your style-type preferences? ---

Aging hippie heteroclite. Today’s outfit consists of faded Dickies bib overalls, faded red/pink henley, red Converse All Stars, cashmere argyle socks, Burberry trench coat, and a Borsalino fedora … shaved three days ago and last had a haircut somewhere around five years back. ---

No style here, either (she types, wearing plaid boxers, white v-neck tee, and a 20 year old threadbare grey sweatshirt). Since I no longer have a need to dress up, I don’t. The cats don’t care what I look like as long as I feed them. My house has modern American furniture next to antiques next to thrift shop finds. According to friends, my house is ‘comfy’. ---
