# What's your "type"?

Mrs. Rhymer and I were talking about this at breakfast this morning; specifically, which of us could more accurately predict whether the other would be attracted to a given third party, on a purely physical/superficial basis. As it turned out, each of us had a good handle on what kind of woman the other would think was hot, but neither of us could accurately predict what sort of men. (I’m male and 95% straight; Mrs. R., obviously female, is probably 66-75 % straight.
My own type, when it comes to women: shortish (5’5" or less), slender, fair-skinned, and sylphlike–by which I mean small of bosom. Hair color isn’t terribly important, as long as it doesn’t quarrel with the complexion, and I prefer long hair but can happily deal with short.

This is pretty much me except I prefer redheads or brunettes. Quirky glasses and a “geeky” clothing style. Every once in a while my wife will spot a girl like this while we’re out and she’ll tease me with “You think she’s hot don’t you?” and I have to sheepishly admit that yes I do.
Of course, she fits my “type” to a T so I am one lucky son of a bitch.

In high school and the start of college, I thought I had a “type”. Blond, tall, thin, pale, blue eyes. Then I met the guy who ended up becoming my husband, and… well, he was tall! 😃

I used to think I didn’t have a type, but my wife insists I’m into “skinny dark-haired girls.”
As I get older, I realize I don’t have a “type” because I like damn near all of 'em.
Near the top of the list would be:
-Nerdy girls, esp. nerdy black girls
-Black girls with British accents
-Ghetto black girls
No pattern there, I’m tellin’ ya.

If you put me in a room full of people I don’t know, my eyes will _always_ be drawn to the guys who look like this: black or dark brown hair, brown eyes, average height or a bit under, average weight to a bit over. Or 100% the opposite of what Ferret Herder thought was her type 🙂 If he’s fairly fair complected (odds are he won’t be compared to **me** ) despite the dark hair and eyes, and has let his hair grow out a bit, so much the better.
Personality-wise I go for out-going, sarcastic guys who are intelligent. Benedick has been my favorite Shakespearian character since I was a teen.

I do have a type, although I’m much more flexible than my SO–if she ain’t blonde it’s no way for him and bonus points if she’s big. Think Anna Nicole or Victoria Silvstadt. I point out to him that ANY woman is just one hair appointment away from blonde but he doesn’t see that! The only time I’ve EVER heard him say a chick going blonde was a bad idea was when Laura Prepon did it. I’m not sure how he reconciles the fact that I’m a redhead these days and have been for about eight years–I think he tells himself I’m “strawberry blonde.” OoooKAY, dear! 😛
Me, I like men tall, (taller the better!) skinny, dark haired, light eyed and big bonus points for craggy features, especially big noses. Daniel Day Lewis, Clive Owen, Adrian Brody types. Personality-wise I like smart, geeky, sarcastic, funny, tough, with a smooshy marshmallow core. The only features that are absolutely consistent, though, are tall & skinny. Just don’t have any love for the short chubby guys at all.
Women I drool over tend to be short and brunette–often Asian. I like exotic and mixed race chicks best, guess that’s a _vive la difference_ thing.

Nerdy and mildly socially awkward, medium build, dark hair and dark eyes.
This reminds me of a time when I was with my husband (then-boyfriend) and ran into an old high school crush. I was totally obsessed with the guy and hardly said a peep to him through junior high and my entire high school career, but we had the same social circle so we knew each other by name. It was all I could do not to tackle him to the ground every time he walked by my locker.
So there they were, my husband and my old crush, shaking hands, the realization dawning in their eyes that _they looked exactly alike._ :eek: I never even made the connection until they were both standing there, with their Sicilian faces, dark curly hair and glasses, practically wearing the same clothing. It was REALLY obvious. I about died of embarrassment.
So I guess I’m pretty consistent.
Also I think Asian and Latino men are to freaking die for. But again–dark hair, dark eyes and the frame I most love are almost a given in that case.
My husband is apparently into short chubby women with curvy hips and big tits. I’ve seen pictures, and I’m the thinnest girl he’s ever been into-- and I’m not thin. So I guess he’s pretty consistent too.

Female.
Seriously though, when I was younger, I only had eyes for blonde women with nice hooters and a girl next door look. I think my first real celebrity crush was the girl who played Julie on Growing Pains. But in the last few years, I’ve developed a real taste for 30-something women with raven hair. Women like Lena Heady, Sarah Clarke, and Famke Janssen. I also love Russian women. Must be the accent.
That’s my favorite type, but I really like all kinds of women, unless they are skeletally skinny or grossly fat.

I’ve never really had a type, beyond male. I’ve dated/been with guys everywhere from 5’2’ish to around 6’9", younger to 20 years older, bone skinny to…well let’s call it a ‘football player’ build, etc. My main preference always used to be for caucasian guys but I’ve found myself noticing more hispanic guys. (probably from living in LA for 4 years)

When I was about 4 years old, I was seriously in LOVE with Lynda Carter of Wonder Woman fame. She was my dream girl and probably still would be if she was a little younger (but that is negotiable).
It took me about 25 years to realize that I was selected every voluntary woman in my wife for that same look including my wife and female friends. Dark hair, blue eyes, and a petite but somewhat curvy build are what does it for me. I got the Wonder Woman DVD set a couple of years ago and I couldn’t take it. Lynda Carter is the most beautiful woman I have ever seen both in looks and demeanor.
I can go for other types too but it isn’t the same. Blonds can be very pretty but I don’t think they age as well.

My type is very much the nerdy/intellectual (50/50 split FTW!) type, any build from medium to heavy (not skinny, thanks - bones are NOT a turn-on), with the all-important dark hair and dark eyes. I’m particularly susceptible to Asian and Middle-eastern ethnic types, but fair skin with dark hair and eyes can be quite adorable too.
On my ‘potential mate’ shopping list, this was what I _wanted_. What I \*needed \*turned out to be balding, blue-eyed, and skinny.
We’ve been happily married 8 years, and living together for 10 or 11 years all up. ‘Type’ goes out the window when personality is concerned. I’m not his ‘type’ either (he likes athletic girls and I’ve always been sedentary and overweight), but somehow we’re just right for each other. 😃
