I think it can help to have an accurate mental picture of a situation. Especially a sexual situation … and such topics are not infrequently discussed on the board. There are often other details which could helpfully be included (as, for example, in **The Great One** ’s recent rant, which so signally failed to inform us as to what s/he was ranting about). However, I see no need for full disclosure where it’s not relevant.

I agree entirely with the OP, but for full disclosure I think we should also add height, weight, salary for last tax year, sexual orientation, medical history, medical history of family, political tendencies, hobbies and preferably a list of references from previous lovers.

THESE STATEMENTS ARE ALMOST MEANINGLESS.
MUAD’DIB IS SUGGESTING YOU INCLUDE YOUR SEX, etc, _WHERE NECESSARY._
If you think the important info is implicit, should be remembered from other of the posters threads, asked for every time, that’s an argument you can present. But I think bashing Muad’dib for suggesting we all start every post with our vital measurements ala AOL is attacking a straw man.
But to keep with the trend, no thanks/often as possible/my room

If it’s relevant, then ask the person for the info when they make a post in which that info would **be** relevant. Nothing wrong with saying, “Nice comments, X, I agree… by the way, are you male or female? It’s kind of tough to tell from your name.”

I have seen many posts which seem to hinge on a persons location and yet most don’t tell us where they are which then makes there post almost meaningless.

Jesus Christ, you people really take the prize. I know exactly what Muad’Dib is talking about, and so do you:
He’s talking about those fuckwits who complain that they can’t find a particular store, facility, or business where they live, and beg for assistance, but DON"T SAY where they live. Not in the post, not in profile (and the worst offenders have that idiotic “I live on the shores of the alimentary canal” B.S. under location) – as if someone’s going to pierce your precious anonymity by finding out what fucking COUNTRY you live in.
He’s talking about Pitizens who bitch, bitch, bitch about the crappy hour-and-a-half it takes to get a pizza delivered, without mentioning whether they live (a) in Southwest Bumfuck, where they’re lucky to get a delivery at all, or (b) in Downtown Gotham, where there are three or four pizzerias per block, and Our Beloved OP has merely managed to alienate all of the 100 or so establishments within a 1-mile radius.
He’s talking about oblivious numbskulls who post about problems with parents, siblings, or children, but leave out the critical fact of age, leading to the classic “Wait 'til I’m 18 and move out? But I’m 47!”
He’s talking about RELEVANT INFORMATION, he’s talking about CONTEXT, he’s talking about a perfect world wherein one can read another’s missive and respond intelligently with one’s FIRST post instead of wasting the first reply on “and where the fuck are you, then?”
