I remember my first encounter with you, back when you were Slythe. I was almost brand new, and had opened a thread debating whether atheism is a religion. I remember how you came crashing in, announcing that if you were to encounter God, you would slay Him. What that had to do with the debate, we will never know. Yet somehow, you marshalled the resources to do the unreasonable, the rude, the childish, the inane. I ran into you again from time to time, as Slythe. With practically every encounter, you were belligerent, intolerant, bombastic, and incredibly obtuse. Fast forward. Now, you’re a moderator, and (at least ought to be) held to a higher standard of behavior. I know my complaint will go straight into the trash. I can understand that there is comaraderie among moderators, and that they will defend you. Because of your standing, however, the Pit is where I must take my complaint. First, you allowed the wholesale hijack and slaughter of [this thread](http://boards.straightdope.com/sdmb/showthread.php?threadid=68168) that I started in your Forum, “In My Humble Opinion”. It was a thread about the Jesus _Survivor_ spoiler that has been circulating on internet radio and various _Survivor_ message boards. Its Opening Post: > [@](#): > > No, this isn’t a witness thread. Well, that’s that, and I have no control over it. You, and people like you, are the ones who give atheism its common reputation as a hand-stabbing philosophy that is ethically bereft. You’re the reason people think atheists can’t be moral. You are your own worst enemy, and will lose your fight to stamp out ignorance because, frankly, people won’t listen to what assholes have to say. \*\*Libertarian \*\* the problem I saw was in how you phrased your OP and title - it invited the kind of joking that you immediately got. I think a thread about “would you like to know” to things would be interesting “would you like to know the ending of a movie”? “would you like to know how you will die?” "would you like to know who won a game before the ending (but not early enough to win a bet) -see I know the audience… I noticed that you’d stepped in that thread and tried to cajole folks into answering the OP. I doubt that having the moderator doing that would have improved the chances of getting it back on track (ok, so they might have stopped hijacking, but probably wouldn’t have answered it) FTR, I’m glad I didn’t post what I thought of there (reminded me of my old college days when folks would walk up to you and say “have you seen the Lord today?” and I’d answer "yep, he’s over by Berkey Hall, if you hurry, you can catch him " 😃 ) ---

Lib, I (for the most part) respect your posts and your take on things. You may have had legitimate beef with Czarcasm regarding the Pagan thread. I haven’t read the related pit thread, so at this point I have no comment regarding that portion of your post. However, your Jesus thread getting hijacked is nothing unique. Threads get hijacked all the time. I don’t see how you can harp on the mods for “allowing” it to happen. They would need 10 mods in each forum if they were to try to prevent every thread from being hijacked. I think you should it slide. My 2¢, do with it what you will. ---

Slaughter! Jackals! Mutilation! Pack of ravenous rampaging thugs and gang rapists! I had a half-formed thought that perhaps there was a better way to promote the love and peace Lib has such a firm leg up on, but then I lost the reasoning behind it. Now I can’t imagine what it could possibly have been. Oh well. Some bulletin boards are set up to affix various titles under posters’ names based on number of posts made. I know it’s not the proper forum for feature requests, but could it be possible to implement that feature here? Having just barely broken the three-digit mark myself, I know I’d probably only qualify as a lowly “denizen”, but knowing that if I broke 500 or 1000 or whatnot that I could be promoted to “jackal” and even “gang rapist” would give me more of an impetus to post. ---

Hijacks happen. They happen a lot. Not every thread that I’ve seen hijacked gets a warning or a reminder from the moderator. Just because yours wasn’t doesn’t mean that the moderator was passing any kind of moral judgment on it. I think it got hijacked because of the subject title. It would have gotten hijacked anyway because of the guy’s name. The hijack was, IMHO, _funny_, and I wasn’t offended by anything in it. I’ve never been impressed with those who are quick to ascribe the worst type of behavior to another person simply because of disagreements on religion. I hope that you are not one of those individuals. **Czarcasm** doesn’t owe you an apology, IMHO. Besides, last time I checked, **Czarcasm** is not the only moderator of the IMHO forum. How come you’re not shrieking about **TVeblen** ’s supposed lapses as a moderator? Seriously. Life is short. There are certain things in life not worth getting hyped over. My first Pit thread, from Libertarian no less, and this is the best you people can come up with?!? My ghod, this would have passed for a MPSIMS thread, it’s so mild. Lib, I didn’t mess with the IMHO thread you mentioned because you invited the hi-jacking by way of said thread title. I _am_ surprised that you have nothing to say about the offer made in the mentioned Pit thread that was recinded for the flimsiest of reasons. I was offered a chance to see real “Magic” by someone who obviously thought I wouldn’t be able to accept. When I _did_ accept, with the needed stipulation that the offerer tell his exactly what I would be shown, to prevent misunderstanding, the offer was recinded abruptly, and the person who made the offer complained about the treatment recieved over in a GD thread. ---

Czar, fair enough. The thread title was a lame attempt at cleverness, a bad pun perhaps. But it certainly did not invite anything like the wholesale trashing it got. I was looking forward to a good discussion about the greatest and most serious spoiler out there from a man who calls himself Jesus. If you say that I can go into threads there in IMHO and, having found an angle by way of the thread title, leave pointless distracting posts at will, then I’ll concede your point. And yes, you had a legitimate gripe about the shape-shifting thing, but GD wasn’t the place for it. You’ve rectified that. It’s over. ---

Why would I want someone in my home who was going to be a jerk and come with a closed mind? You still do not strike me as wanting to learn or disspell ignorance. You seem very attached to your worldview without an ability to drop the attitude and consider that there might be more out there. ---
