So… people who are underrepresented in society are less likely to be crime victims in absolute terms, and people who are overrepresented in society are more likely. What insightful analysis.

Waitaminute…white people are like 72% of the population, but black people are only attacking us 56% of the time. That’s some racist bullshit right there, but look closer: black people are 12% of the population, but we’re attacking them only 2% of the time. What, black victims aren’t good enough for you, white muggers? Is that it?

Um, isn’t everyone at least somewhat prejudiced in favor of people of their same (income level)(culture)(tribe)(family)?
Ummm, in regards to family…maybe…but the rest of it, no.
The trouble with “racism” is that it is a vast blurry description that is shorthand for whatever the group who uses it wants it to mean. Especially handy because “race” itself is such an artificial construct.
While it’s true that race is an artificial construct, I think most reasonable people are able to discern what is racism and what is not. At least, I would hope so.
That said, I agree that the “Blacks are racist” accusation (normally used by white racists), is a variation on the Rovian practice of accusing your enemies of what you do yourself much more, and much more evilly, in order to then call it equivalent and therefore baseless.
Yep, you got it! I see this coming mainly from white Conservatives blathering on about how blacks can do this and that and get away with it, that they are given special privileges that whites are not, and that this world is becoming “too PC”…blah, blah, blah. What they fail to understand is that blacks have always had to and still do deal with racist attitudes and discrimination even despite any bone the government throws them in an attempt to “equalize” things. I think what these white Conservative folks are really saying is, “I miss the days when I could make a racist joke about blacks and no one would call me on it” or “I miss the days when I was the sole privileged one”. Despite their feelings to the contrary, whites have never been in danger of losing their rights…and if they can’t take competing with blacks for jobs on a more balanced basis or the fact that they need to keep their racist views to themselves, that’s just too damn bad. Suck it up, buttercups!

Do you even read the threads? You’ve honestly never seen a post when someone talks about being against Obama or one of his policies and the response is “They don’t like him because he’s Black.”?
Sorry to butt in here but I wanted to add my two cents for better or for worse. While accusations of being racist against Obama because you don’t believe in his policies aren’t always the case, they sometimes are…the Birther Movement and the intentional use of his middle name “Hussein” are two good examples of this. Conservatives have used these tactics in hopes they can scare less intelligent white voters into voting Conservative. So, not all claims of racism in this case are completely without merit.
