# When did circumcision become the norm for Americans?

My old roommate made contact with an old friend from his youth in another state. He had a crush on her in junior high and they started some kind of long distance romance. She bought a plane ticket to come out and after she arrived I made myself scarce which seemed like the thing to do. When I returned the next day it turned out the night hadn’t really gone the way he had planned. Immediately after I walked out the front door it was instant sexy times for about a minute and a half until she discovered his intact foreskin. She scolded and lectured him about how disgusting and unhygienic and wrong his penis was and told him that unless he (as an adult) got circumcised she never wanted to hear from him again. She gathered her belongings and left immediately.
