# When did Spade know? Maltese Falcon Spoiler.

I think he did have some feelings for Brigid, but if he doesn’t give her over he might go to jail himself. And a man has to avenge his partner.  
No doubt Spad was a cynical opportunist, but I think he showed some of his real self in that speech to Brigid at the end

Bogart was a very, very good actor, even if he did not resemble a blonde Satan.

Yes, Hammett describes him as resembling a blonde Satan.
