# When did the font change on the column homepage?

I just noticed the “Fighting ignorance since 1973…” strapline has changed into an ugly new font on the front page. It’s still the same on the SDMB, though. When did that happen?
(Should this go on ATMB? It’s not really about the message board, it’s about the SD homepage.)

The front page was tweaked a couple of months ago. A few stylistic changes but nothing big.
If you upgraded your browser recently that might also change the way it looks; I noted when I upgraded both IE and Firefox that the pages rendered differently, the text looks sharper and the color contrast was much more so with the new browsers. And yes, it is quite glaring, now that you mention it. That might also be affecting your perception.

We didn’t want the display ad below the illustration to get bumped off the screen when the home page initially opened, so I reduced bulk by eliminating the separate red stripe and putting the SD motto next to the logo. If you think the font is uglier than the one we had before, well, everybody’s entitled to their opinion.
