[This article](http://popwatch.ew.com/popwatch/2009/05/kris-allen.html?xid=rss-feed-todayslatest-Kris+Allen%3A+One+day+in+NYC) is the second time I’ve seen someone write “the Internets”. It can’t be a simple typo because the next sentence starts with “They are”. Have I missed something, or is it just another example of sloppy terminology? ---

It’s just a joke. Actually, it’s not really funny anymore but people keep on doing it so I suppose it’s more of a meme now. I first noticed it being used a lot when George Bush said it in a speech. At the start it was used to make fun of him and then it took on a life of its own. ---
