# When doctors were drafted (USA), how were their ranks assigned?

This goes to show that Watson in the series Sherlock advanced in rank while in Afghanistan as he has the rank of Captain, which he uses to get on a base in one of the episodes. He probably should not have been allowed but he does says that it felt good to pull rank.
