My experience here lends me to believe that after you’ve engaged in either a penetrating question or answer, everyone’s going to start talking about you and you can’t claim newbieinity anymore. ---

I have no idea if I’m a newbie or not. I chat on AOL with a few dopers (not to mention names, don’t want to drag anybody down like that). I’ve never noticed any other threads about me that I wasn’t involved in. Although, I’ve visited about every day since I’ve registered, so. . . I think you’re not a newbie any more when you consider it a mortal sin to type hampster. ---

Hello all, We were supposed to get a welcome thread?? Huh? Er? Doh? Dag…I am definitely without question a newbie, but workin’ on it! **Scotticher** , to answer the “from whence I came question” I would have to chalk it up to taking a new job a couple weeks ago that had a winning combination- ethernet and TIME, I’ve got A LOT- anyhoo, a browse through the CityPaper online brought me back to a long forgotten gem of brilliance in the otherwise bland landscape of daily-columning. I was brought into the Cecil Adams fold, discovered SDMB, and am hooked. Help. 🙂 -SDMB whippersnapper ---

Argh, does anyone know the mystery of double posting?? That’s gotta be a clue to distinguish those who “have it” from those who “don’t.” Hey **Highway** , I think we should make a new club…it can be for those of us with fewer than 50 posts, and we can have, ya know, a 12 step program. 🙂 Granted, if I keep posting at this rate, I’ll write myself out of my own club, but it’ a thought… ---

As I recall to not be a newbie you need 1. At minimum 4 months as a registers user. 2. You must have been pitted at least once. 3. Post count of 400+ 4. Talked about in a thread that you haven’t participated in. 5. To have come up with a short list of criteria for no longer being a newbie. ---

That’s quite a limiting set of criteria. A very small proportion of regular posters have been “Pitted.” **Flowerchild** , if it makes you feel any better, you’ve been Pitted already – if not specifically by name – for your misuse of ‘your.’ ---
