# When does the Board's liability end?

There’s currently a thread in GQ regarding credit card fraud, which was quickly closed. The same action is taken regarding any other potential criminal advice column, for good reason - the SDMB does not want to remain liable in case of a lawsuit, etc.

But does locking the thread remove the liability from the Board? Most times, the mods will delete any blatantly offending posts, and I’m sure that’s a finality - but what about threads that remain behind?

Just curious.
