When electricity production is taken into account, how green are EV's?

Even if that is true, US electric production is down to 20% from coal now (thankfully) About the same pie slice as nuclear.

Yeah, that is the big polluter, we need to whittle that down.

The counter I’ve heard to this is due to the increased demand of electricity, much of that will need to be made up by coal, as that is where our power reserves are, especially base loads which coal typically is used for.

Out here at least it is natural gas.

One thing all these electric car haters forget is home solar panels. Now, CA may be an outlier, but EVERY hose I know that has a EV or a plug in hybrid has solar panels. No coal, no natural gas, but sunshine.
